    I worked at Oregano's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are fun and friendly for the most part. A lot of the customers were regulars who were really awesome.

    Cons

Owner has a hard time making sound business decisions. He's kind of all over the place as far as policies and procedures, and doesn't make smart financial decisions, such as cutting staff early who are just standing around. There was a lot of sexual harassment that was dismissed or seen as the "norm", both in the restaurants and corporate headquarters. Another thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was the fact that the owner's "family story" is totally fake. It was widely known through the company that the owner made up a very elaborate family history to promote the brand. That's just kind of odd... why make up a fake grandfather? Another bummer was that pay was much lower than industry average.

    Advice to Management

I would advise the owner to select a better senior team who would advise him with facts, rather than just telling him what he wants to hear.

I have been working at Oregano's (More than a year)

    Pros

Store is always busy and the food is great.

    Cons

The company is not very corporate, which I guess is a pro and a con. Since the store isn't very corporate, managers can get away with a lot with little to no repercussions. This gives managers a lot of power but if you get inside the "clique" of popular servers and manages you'll be fine. It seems pretty unprofessional and have seen great servers fired because managers/ other servers don't like them.

You work a lot harder than a lot of other restaurants because they don't have a lot of staff. Very exhausting and stressful.

I've worked at a few different locations and they all seem the same when it comes to their managements treatment of servers. Usually the GM's are great, and the rest of the management team are ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate employees on the ability to serve, their menu knowledge and overall performance. Also would be nice to see a way that other staff could evaluate the management team.

    Pros

Free food, some people are nice, cool environment with the old feel of it.

    Cons

Management is untrained, uncoordinated, and play favorites. Scheduling is always changing so don't plan anything. Expect to stay after your shift you'll never leave on time with out someone complaining.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to schedule your employees and stop playing favorites.
