I worked at Oregon State University (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of free time to do whatever you'd like basically. Heck, you can even play video games, and management doesn't really care.

    Cons

Management isn't really there at all. Also, they hands off until they think something is going wrong, and they come down hard

    Advice to Management

Actually develop your subordinates. Don't act so laizez-faire. You can't expect employees to grow unless you take the time to work with them.

I worked at Oregon State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They are an extremely professional organization that offers training and opportunities. They offer telephone assistance to any instructor and will provide onsite support when necessary.

    Cons

Some of the training sites can be a little challenging. Other than packed snow or ice, they expect the classes to be held in all weather conditions. This can be an issue during very hot weather when extra breaks are necessary

    Advice to Management

I really don't have any specific advice to management. The challenge of trying to keep consistency throughout the state and at multiple locations can be very difficult. They do a good job but could use more full-time assistance auditing the remote locations

I worked at Oregon State University (More than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere is focused on academics and everyone collaborates well together. There is a strong sense of unity at the university.

    Cons

Would be nice if they could pay student workers more. I only made $10/hour working in the lab.

    Advice to Management

pay at least $15/hour student workers
