    I worked at Orly International

    Pros

There are no pros at all

    Cons

This is a company with a foundation built on bullying and shaming. If you get caught in the “chief of staff’s” crosshairs you will experience cruelty beyond your imagination. It’s not worth it.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management? Management is the problem. Everybody is afraid of the founder’s secretary, especially management.

    Pros

Family atmosphere, fun environment, abundant growth potential, free manicure services, summer hours

    Cons

Poor benefits/401K/Holiday Schedule Lack of structure High turnover Lack of direction Too much involvement from CEO No support from leadership No training upon hire Hired for one job but end up doing multiple roles

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is happening with team members and take time to understand what people are actually doing. Also, help do more around the company to help team building and moral.

    Pros

The beauty industry is great fun and the staff is as loyal as it can be in a company with this kind of huge employee turn over. You will have a terrific idea, after working here, of how important a healthy company culture is in your work-life balance. You also stand a good chance of rising through the ranks rapidly as the quit/fired ratio will enhance advancement but not learning. The colors are pretty and the quality...

    Cons

The owner and his brats have little regard for employees lively hood. They are without business sense and in constant conflict. This makes navigating the halls rather dangerous. Bullies rule. Morals are lacking from top down and it shows. The product, despite the family, is good. Education is good. Marketing is in constant turmoil because the owner thinks he has some sort of insight into beauty and fashion so any...

I worked at Orly International full-time

    Pros

Many dedicated employees who want to do well and want to see the company greatly succeed. Many talented employees with valuable knowledge and experience.

    Cons

Employees are not shown appreciation or recognition for what they do. The company pays its employees, even those in lead or supervisory roles, at the very bottom of the industry standard pay scale, and in many cases not even on the pay scale. Then the HR Department recognizes that the company is losing good employees due to inequitable pay scales, but they continue to make empty promises. The current HR department can...

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to boost employee morale, reward employees, and try to retain good talent. Also, the company could have a much higher employee morale by simply replacing the HR department.

    I worked at Orly International

    Pros

They have an awesome group of educators to work with!

    Cons

This company is run by non-industry insiders. The upper management is so far out of touch with reality it's literally insane. Good luck to the sales people handling a 15 state territory with no budget, no support and management who is so far in under their heads they won't be able to save the brand. The management leads by fear, intimidation and insecurity. There is no open door policy because they shut you down if you...

    Advice to Management

Don't entrust your company to the current leadership. They ruined one brand already. Don't let them do it to yours.

    Pros

Competitive salary, and benefits. Ideas are valued and taken into consideration. Employee discounts and perk are very nice and a bonus.

    Cons

None really that i can think of. I wasn't with the company very long. I liked my job and supervisor.

      Pros

Heavy workload but good to keep busy. Great facility and in-house capabilities. Employee Gratis every QT.

      Cons

Team/Culture issues. Upper Management needs improvement. Employees are expected to wear many hats.

I have been working at Orly International full-time

      Pros

There are some amazing and talented people who work here. The sad part is that the potential for creativity and innovation is often micro-managed right out of them.

      Cons

ORLY has created a culture that rewards and celebrates bullies. Thoughtful input is often crushed by the loudest voices in the room and yet people are chastised for their lack of participation in meetings. It is the fear of being belittled that keeps them quiet, not lack of ideas or interest. I am well aware that corporations don't always behave in democratic fashion but that doesn't excuse their employees from the...

      Advice to Management

You may want to take some of those leadership courses you are so fond of recommending to your employees. True leadership is demonstrated through motivation not intimidation. Oh and don't claim you have an "open door policy" when private discussions are used against the people who trust you.
