    Pros

Good solid company. Is at the forefront of Chromatography R&D.
Quick decisions taken and facilities (good support) provided to run the process or experiment with it.
Strong nurturing environment for incoming employees. Good starting point for Chemical Engineering graduates with almost vertical learning curve.
Encouragement to read and think about projects and bring forward new ideas.
Tremendous level of experience from the working staff and the management.. Great people to work with. Most engineers are generous in sharing their expertise and answering questions. Welcoming and open environment.
Professional, yet understanding work environment. The company gives personal attention to all its employees and is flexible to accommodate its employees need.

    Cons

Engineers have to be very flexible in there weekly schedule.
Salary could be a little better.

    Advice to Management

We are fast becoming a big company and hence need to get a couple of project managers.

I have been working at Orochem Technologies (More than a year)

    Pros

Orochem is the place where you can see chemical engineering come to life. All that you have learned in your undergraduate and/or graduate education comes in handy as you see projects start from bench scale and lead to commercial scales. The employers are great about keeping you engaged in the project throughout and you are afforded the opportunity, a majority of the time, to travel to various locations around the world and work as the process scale-up engineer, where your technology that you developed at the bench is being implemented in large plants.

Beyond engaging their employees with exciting and challenging projects, Orochems management is very understanding with your personal life, should unforeseen issues arise. Many of the women employed at Orochem are also allowed flexible schedules where some work may be completed at home. This was very important to me and showed me that Orochems management takes you and your personal life seriously.

    Cons

Many of the projects assigned to us are very intellectually challenging and may require a good amount of ground work to get started. Given this, there are many resources available at Orochem that lead one to success on these type of projects and management is always ready to help.

    Advice to Management

Please hold more company gatherings such as barbecues or picnics especially in the summer months so new hires can get to know their colleagues.

I have been working at Orochem Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to downstream process development ranging from lab bench scale discovery to scale-up over to a pilot scale ending with commissioning.
Exposure to bioanalytical sample prep products ranging from QC testing to applications development.
The company is a good place to gain expertise in adsorbents, SPE, chromatography (HPLC and preparative-LC) and industrial processes for molecular purification , separation and isolation.
Direct communication with high level management, senior staff, customers and vendors which facilitates fast broadening of perspective.

    Cons

Work-load often requires somewhat extended hours.
    Lack of solid hierarchical organization.
Loose definition of job-titles (responsibilities and duties).

I have been working at Orochem Technologies (More than a year)

    Pros

Full of very intelligent and hard working staff that are always willing to share their knowledge or lend a hand. Opportunities ranging from process development in the lab and office to commercial plant installation/startup at customer site are available. Many interesting and cutting edge projects to get involved in. Lots of experience to be gained as an engineer. Your fundamentals in chemistry and engineering will be tested and strengthened. Great place to be if you are looking for a challenging but rewarding work.

    Cons

As you start to play a larger part in each project the need to meet deadlines can sometimes lead to longer than normal work days.
