    Pros

    People were friendly and the work was interesting. A lot of opportunities to work on interesting documents. The benefits are good and offer opportunities to spend time with family especially after having a child.

    Cons

    Management was poor. Direct manager acted unethically and requested questionable actions. Same manager was also incredibly rude and expected one to work off the clock without pay.

    Pros

    I feel they do care about the staff Moral in the office. We were treated well while working.

    Cons

    My raise for 5 years was less than 2%. My bonus for hard work was $1500. Then I was told I was maxed out for salary and would never get a raise again. Ever. And then I was told my bonus would NOT reflect the deficit of no raise. So it makes no difference if I stay late or put the extra effort to get projects out. I always work hard. But if I slack or go above and beyond it makes no difference.

    Advice to Management

    Value your staff more. Your maternity policy is amazing ......for attorneys. You made a whole big deal about how the new policy values the women in the organization, how you want to make sure that women having children get a lot of time off and then get eased back in. But that's only for attorneys not staff. Its actually embarrassing when your CTO has a baby and she is treated like the staff. Much shorter maternity leave. But then again she gets bonus, raise and I bet making over a few hundred K a year.......

    I worked at Orrick as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    As with all litigation it tends to go in fits and spurts, so there are frequent opportunities for overtime.

    Cons

    Orrick makes a big deal about the savings they offer clients by consolidating things like e-discovery at their GSC instead of having junior associates do it at $300 per hour, but there is a ridiculous amount of churning that goes on - so while the hourly rate may be less they aren't doing anyone any favors.

    Advice to Management

    Your clients deserve better.

    Pros

    As an Attorney Team Lead, the job is actually interesting and challenging. Opportunity to work with a variety of diverse and talented people.

    Cons

    That same diverse environment was systematically undervalued and destroyed by a self-righteous, bigoted, sexist director. The few remaining Leads hate their job now and all are looking elsewhere for better opportunities. The DRS prides itself for supposedly being flexible and all-inclusive, but those who "lean in" are quickly torn down through psychological abuse. Also, the director insists on unethical billing practices that should probably be reported, at the least, to the WV Bar. These unethical practices and indescretions have been reported to higher-ups without consequence. Also, HR will air your private and protected information throughout the GOC with impunity.

    Advice to Management

    Reevaluate DRS management's actions and performance.

    I worked at Orrick as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    As an intern, i was able to learn alot of IT in a legal environment.

    Cons

    Takes advantage of interns and staff with less compensation and coworkers leave you alone to take the fall.

    Advice to Management

    Reevaluate management skills when it comes to team work and credibility of those who strive to work. Not those who apple polish and cheat there way to the top with second rated skills and qualifications.

    Pros

    A handful of good people and the perks are better than other BigLaw firms.

    Cons

    Lack of direction from management; lack of work life balance; people who aren't qualified to be managers are...

    Advice to Management

    Clean house at the management level and just simply start over. There are too many "power trips" and "egos" because people who don't qualify to manage are in management.

    Decent pay and good food in cafeteria.

    Cons

    Bad work life balance, management is now based in NY and does not support other offices. Brutal hours and unreasonable expectations.
