I worked at Oscar de la Renta full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - clothing allowance is great
    - decent pay/benefits
    - some great people !
    - small teams, so you're exposed to a lot of different aspects of the business
    - since turnover is high, there are often opportunities to learn, do more, or change positions

    Cons

    - high turnover, people often left after a few months. positions aren't filled quickly or if at all. upper management doesn't even have time to interview
    - generally very unorganized
    - employees are unhappy
    - long hours, not uncommon for people to work late every night. expected to be on call 24/7
    - teams do not work together, very quick to throw each other under the bus
    - working here sucked the life out of me

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

Great location, near a lot of trains. Allowance is nice. Good name to have on the resume. There’s only a handful of decent people there but not enough to make things better.

    Cons

Poor management and direction, a crazy amount of turnover (revolving door), extremely limited resources, some rude, unprofessional coworkers, poor work-life balance and poor morale.

    Advice to Management

Not sure if any advice would change anything.

I have been working at Oscar de la Renta full-time

    Pros

    Flexible work hours. Clothing allowance.

    Cons

Corporate office is disorganized. even if management sets up internal processes, it doesn't get implemented.

Direction from senior management is very little to none.

    This place is a mess!

    Advice to Management

Hire knowledgable people with a college degree and common sense.

I have been working at Oscar de la Renta full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the CEO is wonderful, design team was lovely, product is stunning.

    Cons

forced to actually steal for my manager, had to withstand extremely late hours out of spite, being told I am not allowed to leave, being held hostage, extremely poor management, terrible people with little working experience. Oscar hires 32 year old interns with 0 real-life work experience. Instead of working for the good of the company, ideas are constantly shot down simply because a more "senior" person was not the one to come up with them. Instead of collaboration between departments, which is what happens between MATURE adults, there is constant gossiping and conspiring. The sad part is the product is stunning, and with better (more emotionally stable / mature) managers, it could truly be a great experience. People are hired with no experience so they look to their interns / assistants to do the work FOR them. They make them stay incredibly late at night. Interns are CONSTANTLY quitting because of a few bad eggs.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to really look at who you have in "supervisor" or "manager" positions, because there is likely some abusive behavior going on. Most departments are actually okay, but 1 or 2 in particular are horrible. Ask people about where they graduated college from.

    Pros

Great people to work with that care about their career but don't take themselves too seriously. Able to work with a lot of different teams to learn the business.

    Cons

Need more staffing. Workload can be unmanageable and long hours at times without providing comparable compensation.

    Advice to Management

If employees are happy the work will show through. Taking care of your people goes a long way. Small perks do not go unnoticed.
