    Pros

Lots of fashion celebrities and actors coming in and out.

    Cons

Long hours, little respect for intern time, unpaid, no compensation for transportation costs, usually did not offer to pay for transportation of samples. Would expect interns to take the subway with extremely expensive and heavy gowns, and would not offer to compensate them even for a subway ticket. Staff was often unprofessional, criticized and gossiped about each other and interns audibly. Overall negative work environment.

    Advice to Management

Allocate resources better, don't subsidize your business with interns' time and money.

    Pros

You will be surrounded by highly creative and driven people. Additionally you will learn how the fashion industry works which is eye-opening in a very positive way.

    Cons

It is very competitive and the people you work with are all probably vying for a position. It is hard in the fashion industry to get a plan for post-grad a year in advance, so it is good name recognition, but I don't know if it opens a ton of doors.

    Advice to Management

none, the department I worked in had some really awesome people. They were all pretty close and worked together on a lot of projects and supported one another. It could be a little more organized but i saw no problems.

    Pros

I absolutely had the best experience as an Intern there, and it being a small company I got plenty of hands on experience and the atmosphere was just great and everyone was willing to work with you!

    Cons

    It was an Unpaid Internship

I worked at Oscar de la Renta (Less than a year)

    Pros

no pros whatsoever, none at all.

    Cons

    -no pay
-financial controller I interned for did not even make sure I received credit for the work I did.
-organized and filed POD's in a dusty, disgusting room all day. This was basically slave labor, no opportunity for learning whatsoever.

    Advice to Management

If you aren't going to pay your interns, at least make sure they get academic credit for the time they spend interning for you and make sure their tasks are actually enriching and beneficial for their career.

    Pros

A lot of pros, great environment, the office is amazing and some great colleagues. Very interesting experience I loved it

    Cons

No cons really but some people will look down on you as an intern. But otherwise pretty positive experience overall. The hours were flexible

    Advice to Management

Teach more to intern don't let them do only the bad work. But otherwise depending on the team it's a good experience

I worked at Oscar de la Renta full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You are given the opportunity to work by hand, to cut and drape and to make patterns. This will give you ample experience in designing and even in embroidery.

    Cons

Very long hours, Not friendly environment, a consistently stressful atmosphere where you might miss meals in the process of getting things done. a lack of communication and trust between design teams.
