I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, job opportunities, a lot to learn, fast paced, generous benefits, fantastic quality product

    Cons

Culture is very poor, upper management seems very disconnected, 1st shift and 2nd shift are not treated equally, HR seems like they work against management than with management, training is severely lacking, disorganized to the point that it can sometimes be embarrassing. Office employees seem to come off as a clueless to what goes on within the manufacturing facilities. Too many inconsistencies.

    Advice to Management

There is such great potential with this company, weed out the bad eggs and cut the red tape and allow those who want to grow have more of a voice.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time

    Pros

Working for an organization that truly makes a difference in our customers lives and feeling the Oshkosh pride no matter what function/segment you support
A CEO that not only preaches a people first culture but displays it and cascades that style of leadership enterprise wide
Pay is very competitive and benefits are above average
Flexibility as it relates to work/life balance is strong
Opportunities that allow for professional growth through either job advancements or educational workshops you can sign up for that is company paid

    Cons

With there being several segments and so many key stakeholders, voice of customer has to be heard from all areas and this can make it hard to move projects along and things can get dragged out longer than needed

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to your employees voice

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Enthusiasm and excitement over products and the people who help build them
    - Opportunity to deliver meaningful results
    - Room for growth
    - Fair compensation - pay for performance
    - Competitive benefits
    - Historical - 100 year anniversary this year
    - Focus on Continuous Improvement
    - Process minded

    Cons

    - Heavy focus on the newer, younger generation - folks who have been here for a while can also provide great insight and knowledge to why something was done a certain way, or how we handled certain issues in the past. Keeping a competitive and younger workforce is important to ensure succession planning and sustainability, but also be sure to leverage the knowledge you have here already.

    Advice to Management

    - Continue to reflect on truly being people first - hold yourselves accountable first, and ensure you're expecting the same from your next levels down - and cascade that expectation.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's a reason we say "Welcome to the Oshkosh Family" when team members join the company. It's truly a family. I've been here nearly three years and couldn't imagine working anywhere else. We have great workplace flexibility! I was able to make all baby appointments with my wife during her pregnancy. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in the community. I also appreciate the commitment to my professional development. We choose a broad range of courses in Your Oshkosh University to continue developing our skills.

    Cons

I have nothing negative to say.

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent and pushing our people first culture.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Freedom to take the lead and trust from leadership to make things happen
    - Everyone has a "fighter" spirit due to the nature of our business. We have each other's backs and will make it through any situation
    - Pride that team members have towards our products
    - Flexible work environment - I am able to work from home when needed and can flex my hours
    - Tons of opportunities to develop professionally and personally - new job roles, exposure to leadership teams, opportunities to be a part of large enterprise-wide projects, etc.
    - Huge focus on "doing the right thing" and following the core values set by the company

    Cons

    - Working for a company that has 4 different business segments and multiple business units within each segment can be challenging. Most times processes are inconsistent, which makes many enterprise-wide initiatives quite difficult. If you have a passion for process and enjoy challenges, this will not bother you.
    - A lot of the technology is old and out-of-date.

    Advice to Management

Continue to live by example through the "People First" philosophy. Showing your team members at all levels of the organization that they matter makes a huge difference in their lives. Continue to invest resources toward the modernization of processes, technology, and education/development. As the new generation of workers enters the workforce, it is important that we are able to attract their talent with the things that matter to them.
