I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I'm not sure how many people outside of the Oshkosh family comprehend the scope and reach of this organization. We have offices and factories in dozens of countries, each focused on building a variety of difference-making equipment for customers all over the world. How many other jobs can you say your work helps save lives or push the boundaries of productivity and innovation? And because of the global nature of Oshkosh Corporation, team members have a very real opportunity to travel and even transplant to places most could only dream of.

    Cons

Oshkosh Corporation is a very large Fortune 350 company and with that comes the expected stress, politics and upheaval. It can leave you feeling a little adrift at times, but many would consider this con to be an exciting challenge and the rewards to be worth it.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! A vast majority of team members feel that this company is experience a renaissance at the moment, primarily because of CEO Wilson Jones and the People First culture he is trying to bring to this great company. It's never going to be easy, but you're definitely on the right path.

Management seems disorganized and more often than not uneducated

    Advice to Management

When told about an issue management should be able to face and fix the issue, it seems that its more common to try to forget the issue or pass it on to someone else.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time

    Pros

The work is challenging and is team oriented. Management can be demanding, but allows employees to take ownership and initiative to succeed. Sometimes feels a bit directionless, but that provides opportunities for team oriented employees to step up and take the lead. Co-workers are great and helpful.
Management in my division is very team positive, open to personal initiative, encourages ideas, innovation and have high company values.
If you are a team player, come in everyday committed to do your best, be supportive and understand that company shortcomings are opportunities to your career, then you'll find this a great place.

    Cons

Can be demanding and stressful for both managers and employees (which is why many comment on manager demands). Can sometimes require long hours for salaried employees. Can often seem one person short of a full team (or there's not enough hours in the day to finish tasks).

    Advice to Management

Consider more company news and accomplishment sharing with employees. More empathy with union employees might go a long way. Overall, management is very good, but the energy does not seem to flow down as well as could be.

    Pros

Challenging work environment with people who care to provide the best products. Most of the leadership team is engaged in doing the right thing all of the time without introducing their own agendas. The products built here give people something to be proud of and you know they make a difference. There is also a great deal of room to move within the organization.

    Cons

As with most public companies, sometimes you make decisions based on stock prices, and not what is best for the organization.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look for products that will make you a viable option in the defense business. What other heavy equipment can you provide?

    Pros

Oshkosh is a great place to work if you are committed and work hard. There is not a lot of politics and people are focused on results. It's easy to have pride in the product.

    Cons

I wouldn't say there are a lot of cons. The office environment is dated and is probably the biggest area for improvement.
