I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time

    Pros

Flexible and accommodating to work life balance. The simplify and people first strategy put in place by CEO makes this company very appealing to potential candidates.

    Cons

Lack of communication between departments and segments. Better communication could lead to decreased re-work and potential cost savings up front.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the voice of those who are new to the company and new to the culture. They have good ideas and are willing to put in the work to make improvements.

    Cons

Tends to be fast paced at times. Career advancement is limited for two year degree (Associate) employees. Poor planning from upper management on some projects.

    Pros

The investment and focus on people radiates throughout the organization. It's apparent everyday throughout the company through the focus on development plans, the creation of leadership programs and focus on hiring team members who are committed to living our core values.

    Cons

There are opportunities to update some systems and workplaces, however, that doesn't hinder/take away from the work experience.

    Advice to Management

Continue to walk the walk and you will have loyal employees walking in the same direction with you.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great products that touch people's lives in a very personal way - keeping our soldiers, emergency service and construction workers safe! Developing a 'people first culture', giving back to the community along with competitive salary and benefits. Embracing the need to elevate technology capabilities across the company. Lots of legacy technology ---> lots of opportunity!

    Cons

Corporation is made up of multiple business segments which manifested based on acquisition. Driving synergies, efficiencies and cost savings across segments in the IT space is a significant challenge. There are efforts at the ground level to deliver IT Services at an enterprise level but no clear vision, direction or support from Executive Leadership.

    Advice to Management

Keep driving the 'People First Culture', establish a clear vision and strategy whether it be continuing to function and deliver services independently across segments or align and begin to work as one IT Organization. Lots of energy and money spent heading down different paths rather than pulling together to deliver more.

    Pros

There are lots of great job opportunities across the Oshkosh enterprise.

    Cons

Some business units are still somewhat inward focused when hiring rather than looking to draw up and coming talent from other parts of the business.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to share high potential employee information across the corporation so that we can provide career growth opportunities prior to external postings. This is how we will retain great talent, once we've attracted great talent.

    Pros

Growing global company with a People First culture that starts from the top. Cool, innovative products that are used everyday in the US and across the globe. Flexible working schedules for non-manufacturing positions.

    Cons

Pockets of the Oshkosh company still operate as an independent segment, especially on the IT side. Many buildings and locations making face-to-face collaboration difficult

    Advice to Management

    Create a central IT campus.

    Pros

Flexible Work Hours, Challenging Positions, Opportunity to Grow your Knowledge Base, Community Involvement

    Cons

Pay structure not clearly defined. There is too large of a pay scale within the pay grade. Pay grade isn't published anywhere for employees to clearly understand where they fall within it. Take on new tasks and work extended hours without additional compensation. HR representative a bit defensive when discussing these important issues.

    Advice to Management

Need to clearly define payment structure, transparency is key.
