I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There's a reason we say "Welcome to the Oshkosh Family" when team members join the company. It's truly a family. I've been here nearly three years and couldn't imagine working anywhere else. We have great workplace flexibility! I was able to make all baby appointments with my wife during her pregnancy. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in the community. I also appreciate the commitment to my professional development. We choose a broad range of courses in Your Oshkosh University to continue developing our skills.

    Cons

I have nothing negative to say.

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent and pushing our people first culture.

    Pros

People first culture, work life balance, benefits, learning opportunities, networking and professional development.

    Cons

The commute can sometimes be a drag. Parking is somewhat limited, depending on what area you are working at.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the positive change! The company really is headed in the right direction!

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Freedom to take the lead and trust from leadership to make things happen
    - Everyone has a "fighter" spirit due to the nature of our business. We have each other's backs and will make it through any situation
    - Pride that team members have towards our products
    - Flexible work environment - I am able to work from home when needed and can flex my hours
    - Tons of opportunities to develop professionally and personally - new job roles, exposure to leadership teams, opportunities to be a part of large enterprise-wide projects, etc.
    - Huge focus on "doing the right thing" and following the core values set by the company

    Cons

    - Working for a company that has 4 different business segments and multiple business units within each segment can be challenging. Most times processes are inconsistent, which makes many enterprise-wide initiatives quite difficult. If you have a passion for process and enjoy challenges, this will not bother you.
    - A lot of the technology is old and out-of-date.

    Advice to Management

Continue to live by example through the "People First" philosophy. Showing your team members at all levels of the organization that they matter makes a huge difference in their lives. Continue to invest resources toward the modernization of processes, technology, and education/development. As the new generation of workers enters the workforce, it is important that we are able to attract their talent with the things that matter to them.

Work-Life Balance is great with flexible schedules
    Good pay
    People usually willing to help
    Collaborative team environment
Many opportunities to learn and grow
There are opportunities to create some change
New Corporate cafeteria is very nice to finally have a place to go to eat, work and have meetings.
People First is regularly talked about. The culture is changing to more people-focused.

    Cons

Segment businesses very separate from each other, hard to get alignment.
Leaders disconnected from lower level employees
Lack of existing processes make it difficult to get things done and implement change.

I have been working at Oshkosh Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Challenging & Rewarding at the same time.
    - Great people to work with
    - A big enough company to grow in and move from one level to another, yet small enough to make a difference be noticed by top management
    - Top management truly care about employees and realize that the people are the best assets of this place
    - Flexible work schedule is an OUTSTANDING add, I really like the ability kind of set my schedule and work from home or wherever when needed
    - Great products and great learning opportunities
    - Global perspective on things

    Cons

    - Some typical corporate challenges you face in most larger companies, on a smaller scale though.
    - Some corporate red tape associated with typical larger corporation
    - Some old style managers here and there that tend to judge you by how long you are in the office and when you came and left! Not very many though.

    Advice to Management

    - Keep listening to the employees
    - Define clear career path to your employees, particularly the high potentials
    - In todays connected world, offer more incentives for people to work remotely. This will help recruit folks that need that flexibility and they have a lot to offer.
    - Be even more flexible with employees, they all want to do the right thing and being flexible puts the earnest on them to deliver regardless of time and location.
    - Expand the learning opportunities for employees by offering more training and encouraging people to participate in these trainings.

    Cons

Long hours in an intense work environment. The union is very difficult to work with. High pressure to perform.

    Advice to Management

Work life balance is key to retaining employees. The salaries people I worked with did not truly get paid for their time.
