I have been working at Osmose full-time

    Pros

Osmose took over 50 employees to Florida to help with storm assessment and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had! They completely paid for ALL of our expenses and made sure we didn't want for nothing. Even upper management was out there working the lines everyday right along the side of us. They definitely lead by example and have earned my respect to the fullest!

I worked at Osmose full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Casual environment, most everyone in the offices is willing to help, flexible workloads. Nothing about this position is impossible to do, even on your own.

    Cons

No clear cut training, no obvious career paths, not a lot of necessary interactions-quiet office. Unless you are forced to talk to someone you usually don't.

    Advice to Management

Restructure the office so people have something to strive for. Currently there seems so be one short set path, with no deviations or room to explore different paths.

I worked at Osmose full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Pay
Constant travel - only a pro if you like living out of a suitcase

    Cons

Always pressured for production no matter the conditions.
    Poor supervision with poor training.
Only numbers matter. Fudge anything and everything you can to keep management happy...Even safety and quality.
The only thing that matters is the bottom line.
They will do anything they can to make an extra buck.
Broken promises by supervisors and management.
No personal support by supervisors or management.

Senior management is okay as far as goal setting and planning. Regional and local management is where the pressure gets moved down to the crew level to produce or else. While producing is necessary for profit, it is unreasonable to continue to expect more and more. You have passed the point where you turn out a quality product. There is no longer an acceptable balance between safety, quality, and productivity. Produce at all costs and keep your mouth shut if an injury occurs. Get by with crappy work where you can and fill the customer full of crap.

    Advice to Management

    Retire.

I worked at Osmose full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You will get a paycheck, you will get experience in becoming a babysitter for grown folks that could potentially score you a job later in life. Don't let the company truck fool you.., its for you to take the crew to the field, back to the hotel and a few Wal-Mart runs a few times a week while you are hours away from your home.

    Cons

This company is all about numbers. They could care less about you as a person. They want a warm body to make them money. If the production tracker is RED everyone freaks out and acts like the company isn't making money. Some jobs will be in the red for the whole project but run a 40% profit margin... in other words, the company is making money. Here's a few questions you will hear if you don't take my advice and run. 1. How many units did you do? How many hours did you work? Will you get your 40 in this week? I doubt you will ever hear the question, How are you doing?
Ever since Kohlberg got their claws into Osmose it has gone down hill. Good employees are leaving daily, the employees that remain and have no other skills are living a miserable life making the man rich. Trust me, there's better jobs out there. Look to get hired by an actual power company and not a utility contractor. Osmose is a stepchild to power companies. It's funny how Osmose wants to tell a power company what they are going to do when Osmose isn't even on their radar. More money is spent on tree trimming crews that pole inspections. My point, Osmose you are not all that.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting so much pressure on people to make the tracker green. Let people work, get Osmose back to an enjoyable place to work. If you haven't noticed, the morale sucks there and will continue to do so. I feel sorry for GM's and MO's that have to live this stressful lifestyle because one day they will realize it wasn't worth it.
