    Pros

Management are awesome to work for. They care a great deal about their employees and go way above the norm to ensure your success.

    Cons

    Can’t think of any cons

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.

I have been working at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices part-time

    Pros

I love the concept, it's more like a home rather than your typical depressing nursing home. The aides seem to really care about the residents, that really seems to be the only thing keeping them there.

    Cons

Poor training, aides are responsible for the cleaning, cooking, dishes, laundry, and patient care. They mandate you to stay if your relief does not come in (happens a lot). 8 hours shifts turn into 16 hrs. You can not plan a life outside of work when you have no idea IF you are going to work 8 or 16. It's also unsafe as employees are exhausted and tired.

    Advice to Management

Stop the gift card game and pay a good competitive wage to everyone (you're asking a lot of the aides (cook, maid, and caregiver!). Switch to 12 hr shifts with 3 aides 7am to 7pm and 2 aides 7pm to 7am. This ensures coverage if one calls off and allows aides to actually take breaks/lunches.

    Pros

The professional staff really care about the residents and the quality of their work. I would recommend for seniors looking for a clean, safe place to live.

    Cons

Management is a mixed bag. Some are good and some are not so good at managing people.

    Advice to Management

Marketing jobs and clinical jobs are not the same thing.

I worked at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices part-time

    Pros

The elders (residents) have a lot more freedom than at a regular nursing home.

    Cons

Extremely understaffed. Nurses need to keep going back and forth between houses. Two or three admissions altogether are frequent. No holiday pay.

    Advice to Management

The turn over would probably be less if the wages were more competitive and if there were more nurses scheduled per shift. It is not safe to stay at a minimum. Residents pay a huge amount of money every month and deserve better care.

I worked at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved the job responsibilities. There was a set flow so I always knew what was to be expected once I got within the swing of things. There was 2 weeks of training before I was left alone, which was nice, and they even wanted to train me longer but I declined.

    Cons

There were always schedules that were not filled so you had to stay after your shift ended. Sometimes they wanted me to work doubles when I had school the next day, but would always find someone to cover me so I could go home eventually.

    Advice to Management

Scheduling could be better- better communication.

The pay is really good. You will create a bond between you and the residents. The residents care for you as if you are their own.

    Cons

There is nothing but drama. Employees act as if they are in high school. people fuel them self's off of the negative energy.

    Coworkers usually exhibited great teamwork.

Low pay, little teamwork from management, low staff at all times.

    Advice to Management

Help out your nurses of they are drowning in work.

I have been working at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very relaxed environment, and everyone is very friendly. The setting isn't so much of 'nursing home' but feels like it is their actual home so you definitely get to know your elders very well.

    Cons

Since it is a laid back environment employees get away with a lot of things that they shouldn't get away with. Also the pay is by experience, which sucks that it doesn't matter if you work harder than someone else. Again, management doesn't listen very well to the needs of the aides.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your staff is telling you about your employees. We are working with them on the floor and you guys are not.
