I worked at Our Lady of the Lake (Louisiana) part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I felt that this employer was one of the most family friendly environments I have ever worked. They really seem to respect the needs and responsibility that a family requires and I never felt disadvantaged by being a mother. They also take employee satisfaction quite seriously and respond better to employee feedback than any other company I've worked for!

    Cons

The 7:30 am start time was not a good fit for my internal clock.

    Pros

Culture at OLOL was phenomenal. Everyone that passes you in the hall will acknowledge you with a smile.

    Cons

Will not always get recognized for job well done. You must know your own worth and let upper level management see you succeed or else it will always go unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees. They are who gets you through each day.

    Pros

The office is very close knit. The patients were usually very kind.

    Cons

The pay was terrible. They will low ball you and won't change the offer regardless of what experience you have.

    Advice to Management

To the CEOS and upper level people, pay your employees. They are the face of your company and if you can't offer them a salary to even live off how can you consider yourself a human.

I worked at Our Lady of the Lake (Louisiana) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only pros at this job were my fellow co-workers.

    Cons

Quite possibly the most horrible place I have ever worked. This company is totally money driven to the point of ridiculous treatment of their employees. The pay is bad, the leadership is even worse. They don't care about their employees. They don't care about your life outside of OLOL and do nothing to try and work with you if you have small children that you have to take care of.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the CEO: fire all of upper management and try again. Maybe try and live up to the culture you preach everyday in the what I like to call the B.S. "huddles" in the morning. The hypocrisy at this hospital is at an all time high.

I worked at Our Lady of the Lake (Louisiana) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the middle management leadership were great people to work with.

    Cons

Executives sometimes focused on details that were too minute for their level and that would get in the way of progress. Mediocre people were promoted to positions that good candidates wouldn't even be considered for.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on the big picture

I worked at Our Lady of the Lake (Louisiana) full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    salary,the staff, benefits. Learning experience.

    Cons

VERY LARGE TURNOVER AT ST CLARE MANOR, DUE TO FAVORITISM. ALSO , " TOO MANY CHIEFS AND NOT ENOUGH INDIANAS! CO-WORKERS WHO WORKED AT ST CLARE MANOR FOR YEARS ARE LEAVING. HIRING FAMILY MEMBERS.

    Advice to Management

UPPER MANAGEMENT WITHIN THE LAKE SYSTEM. PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR STAFF AND OBSERVE. Also workers need to be put at ease that no jobs will be lost when complaints are filed against management. Also, even though I'm thankful for the yearly bonus, if possible , should be increased especially in departments throughout the system which has constant shortages. This may make a difference regarding if employees stay or seek work elsewhere. Call in policy needs to improve. If your call in is for a legitimate reason, workers shouldn't be penalize.
