    Pros

    Competitive pay. Pet friendly workplace.

    Cons

Micromanagement in combination with constantly changing and poorly defined expectations

    Advice to Management

Communicate what you want, in detail, and let employees provide it.

    I worked at OurPet's full-time

    Pros

    sorry, there are no pros.

    Cons

The environment is morbid and cold. Even in the summer its a cold dark place to work. Upper Management has no clue how to run the shop so the settle for micromanaging of various departments that they aren't even qualified to work in, it seems the grand supreme master of the HR department controls the entire workforce and uses threats to demand respect from her employees. There is no order, there is no happiness. abandon...

    Pros

Fun industry. Ability to learn how not to run a business.

    Cons

Management abuses their employees. ""Dr."" Steve, the owner and management encourages their employees to lie to vendors, buyers, and anyone else doing business with them in order to cut costs as much as possible. Completely unorganized, disingenuous, wild west company culture. They outsource everything. Really the whole experience there is totally laughable. I was lied to and tricked into working there. I worked at OurPet's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Product line is fun and exciting, especially if you like animals. You can bring your dog to work. There are no other pros.

    Cons

There is a tendency to avoid paying sales people bonuses, despite meeting sales goals. Management will spend money on other things then say they don't have money for bonuses. There is zero leadership, no long term strategy. There are no consequences for family members who are not capable of doing their job and consistently disrupt business due to poor decision making. Since they are publicly traded, there is an extreme...

    Pros

You can bring your animal to work (in certain areas of the company), some limited opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Culture here is non-existant and toxic. No appreciation for your hard work and do not ever expect a thank you for anything you do. Non-existant HR, so good luck getting any concerns addressed.

    Advice to Management

Let your employees do the job you pay them to do and have some trust in them to do so. Stop blaming everyone else for failures and take some responsibility. Sometimes an item fails because it is just a BAD idea forced by an out of touch CEO.

I have been working at OurPet's

    Pros

You can bring your dog to work… if management likes it. Pay range is extreme, but if you're lucky you could be on the high end. Most employees are terrific, talented, knowledgeable people just trying to get by. Again if you’re lucky, you might get something useful on your resume from working here. On the bright side, you also learn how not to run a company.

    Cons

Company is ruled with a (rusty) iron fist. Broken chairs & old weird desks. Management has unreal work & time expectations of employees. Promotions are rare, and usually don't come with a pay-raise. No sick days. A few dangerous tow-motor operators. No real safety precautions in warehouse like reflective vests or helmets. One office without outside windows is literally overhead the semi-truck/tow motor loading docks...

    Advice to Management

Before the company closes, at least stipend the employees so they’re not left high and dry.

    Pros

No positives, besides teaching senior management common business practices. See the real reviews under OurPet's. Seems like this "OurPet's Co" account was created to hide the truth...

    Cons

No structure Underpaid Basic business practices are not followed Employee turnover is very high for a small company Long hours Very high stress level Benefits are horrible What stock options? No one seems to know what they are doing A lot of lying and stealing

    Advice to Management

Make some moves quick or else you will go under, fast.

I worked at OurPet's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You can lie and steal money from the company and get away with it like my boss did even though everyone is aware.

    Cons

Senior Management doesn't have a clue as to what they are doing. They need to go back to school and learn the basics of business. There is no structure or useful systems in this company. They make up policies as they go breaking many workplace regulations. There is no work-life balance, you are expected to work mandatory overtime without any compensation...not sure how this is legal. This company seems to think...

    Advice to Management

With over 6 million in excess inventory, I do not see this company lasting much longer. Sad, because it is a fun industry, they just somehow make it miserable. That is why their turnover rate is so high and there are only a handful of employees that have been with OurPets longer than 2-3 years. Very sad. I would suggest getting a professional to take over this company and completely restructure everything.

    I worked at OurPet's full-time

    Pros

Compensation is competitive. Many employees were very nice. There is opportunity to advance for low level employees.

    Cons

It can be soul crushing. Management refuses to define expectations which allows everything to be second guessed. There doesn't appear to be any standard for evaluating expenses beyond CEO whim. CEO whim is actually the guiding principle of the company which leaves employees feeling powerless and directionless. Unqualified people are put in positions that doom them to failure.

    Advice to Management

Retire. Hire someone that will communicate clear, quantified, and realistic expectations. Try to do some things well and finish them instead of trying to doeverything and finishing nothing. Let projects die when they start to be losers.

    I have been working at OurPet's full-time

    Pros

Some of the people there are great. Many of the employees will treat you like family. You can bring your pet to work. If you know how to negotiate, pay can be decent.

    Cons

All of the decent management has moved on. The senior management is incompetent and disconnected from employees who work very hard. The stress level is incredibly high. If you work hard, they'll expect you to work harder. The company is not profitable, so you won't get much of a bonus, if any. Workplace is dated, dark and filthy. No perks - you have to buy your own coffee and there is no team building. No decent...
