I have been working at Outsell (California) full-time

    Pros

Smart group of talented people who want to business to succeed
CEO has a big vision for the company
    Fast-paced work
Transparency in sales across the organization
    No vacation policy

    Cons

Everything is a priority = nothing can be a priority
Finger-pointing, bullying, and reactive responses when said priorities are not accomplished
    Company has a scarcity mentality
Currently no HR position to mediate, help with internal discord or provide a neutral place for working throught issues
Executive team preaches clear communication but does not follow own advice
Co-founder frequently loses his temper and yells at employees
Flexibility varies from person to person with regards to working remotely and being on call during vacations and sick time
Micro-managing inhibits employees from running their respective functions

    Advice to Management

Management feels disjointed. Get out of the fine details and focus on the big picture to allow your employees some room to grow, make mistakes, right their plans, and execute on their core competencies.

    Pros

This place provides a lot of freedom, values a family friendly culture and has great people. They are doing really innovative things and it's a place where A players thrive. It's growing, has state of the art technology after a major investment and has a strong reputation in the market.

    Cons

The virtual culture makes it hard to get things done sometimes. Makes for extra time connecting and coordinating. Founder is very transparent with info which can be good or bad. But not much to gripe about here.

    Advice to Management

    Delegate more.

    Pros

Outside of management, very nice colleagues who are hard working experts trying to do their best; most employees work remotely from home, which may be considered a pro for some

    Cons

Dysfunctional management that cannot figure out a growth strategy. As a result, there is no advancement or job security.
All of the earlier reviews (before the barrage of very similar, generic ones?) are absolutely accurate- nothing has changed.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselves and maybe you would retain employees.

I worked at Outsell (California) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was surrounded by smart people who know the industry very well and are passionate about it. Work-life balance is strong...there is no formal vacation policy and management is accepting of flexible schedules, as long as you're getting your work done. It's a fairly small company--so the leaders are accessible, your voice will be heard, and new ideas are encouraged.

    Cons

Despite being an established company, some aspects (like infrastructure) still feel like a startup at times. Many employees are remote and this can be tough if someone does not do well in that kind of environment

    Advice to Management

Enhance the onboarding process for new hires, so they get more face time with their immediate team and more hands-on experience (as opposed to reading about policies and procedures in the handbook). Keep up the good work when it comes to creating new services and adapting to the needs of the market.

I worked at Outsell (California) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of great people work here. After two years at Outsell I gained many lifelong mentors and friends. The company culture allows for a lot of space to work independently as long as you do what you're supposed to. The company covers a lot of different markets, so there's a lot of interesting work going on.

    Cons

The training/on-boarding manual is an ill-conceived nightmare, but once you're done with it you don't ever have to think about it again.

    Advice to Management

Throw away the grail or cut it down to 5-10 pages.

I have been working at Outsell (California) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with Outsell. Smart co-workers, lovely CEO to work for- she's the brightest executive I've come across in business, freedom of work schedule, fantastic vacation policy, exposure to upper management, trust from upper management to succeed on your own, very little micro-management, working remote, limited travel but when you do travel it's to favorable destinations. If you enjoy freedom and working with A-players both internally and externally then take a close look at Outsell.

    Cons

Communication sometimes falls through the cracks due to majority of company working remote.

    Advice to Management

Consider bringing the company together more than once a year. It's an investment but it pays off in the long run.

I have been working at Outsell (California) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Outsell is a fabulous company for young talent looking to grow professionally and develop their strengths in a variety of areas. Senior management provides valuable mentoring, new challenges and opportunities not available at larger companies and invests in the professional development of promising employees. They truly place their trust in you and provide the resources and attention necessary to succeed in new challenges. Outsell is also very attractive for those with developed careers that are looking to hone their skills, develop an expertise in an area of interest or want the opportunity to own and shape new products, contributing strategic thinking and ideas alongside senior management. And, for all employees, Outsell provides the ability to work remotely but still have the opportunity to visit clients, do speaking engagements, travel to relevant events and to meet face-to-face with colleagues for work groups. Bottom Line: If you're a slacker, have limited self-discipline and need micromanaging or intend on abusing the work-from-home and relaxed vacation policies, you're probably not going to last long at Outsell where employees are measured on the quality of their output, their innovative thinking, contributions to the research and ability to manage their time effectively, all while enjoying a wonderful work-life balance. Outsell is a special place and one where I could see myself working again someday. Finally, I must add, Anthea Stratigos is one of the most compassionate and self-aware CEOs or executives I've ever encountered and if you prove your value to the team and make your goals and aspirations clear, she will help you make them happen.

Sidenote: The disgruntled employee who is immaturely and repeatedly writing negative and inaccurate reviews of Outsell, probably wasn't deserving of the opportunities and privileges valuable employees are awarded here.

    Cons

Employees who find it difficult to focus at home may not excel.

    Advice to Management

Continue nurturing young talent and rewarding smart employees who work hard and play well with the team.
