    Pros

    Healthcare and Bus pass
    Great Coworkers

    Cons

Vacation days are hard to get, must request vacay time 1 yr in advance -my department only
Management only cares about themselves, spiteful and don't care about their employees
A healthcare facility that doesn't take ER notes for why you aren't at work, from their own ER!

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees and value them. Great employees are hard to come by.

I have been working at Overlake Medical Center and Clinics part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The "on the front lines" staff are great (PSRs, MAs, nurses). A lot of people willing to work together to get things done given the circumstances the company often puts them in

    Cons

Overlake upper management is one of the worst I have worked for. It seems we are always in a budget crisis. They can never "afford" to pay anyone wages that are competitive to the area, they do not offer any raises so there isn't any motivation to go above and beyond. Currently they aren't hiring to replace many of the staff that resign in order to control budget, but instead asking staff to do the job of 2-3 people so they get burnt out. And no, those people didn't get raises. They open new clinics left and right but can't manage to staff the clinics they already have. They never get input from employees before implementing new policies or before trying to solve a problem, so there are a ton of unrealistic expectations for the staff. They are constantly forcing the physicians to cram as many people as possible into their schedules in order to keep up with profits, so the physicians often end up overworked. They are not committed to training new employees when they arrive because they are so desperate for staff that the new person gets thrown in on day one or two.

    Advice to Management

Every year we are asked to do an employee satisfaction survey. Every year, we complain that we do not get paid a competitive wage and complain that there isn't a way to get a raise, but nothing ever happens. Also, get advice and ideas from your employees on whether a new policy will work. Higher management has no idea what is realistic for running a clinic because they are in offices all day holding meetings, not working with patients or providers. You're asking too much of your staff without giving them any compensation for the tons of extra duties you put on them. I can list 7 people off of the top of my head looking for new jobs right now because of this

    Pros

Lots of autonomy in dept. Keep pretty busy. Very nice facility, coworkers and dept. manager.

    Cons

Sort of an orphan, forgotten dept at times. Little attention paid to needs and employees in this dept by upper management. HR is one of the worst I have seen.

I have been working at Overlake Medical Center and Clinics (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really caring workers and friendly environment. The job makes you feel like a team and co workers are there to help when you need it. Team atmosphere rather than individualized.

    Cons

Still new to the job but so far it has been great. Only con I can think of is the disconnection with the clinical staff. Wish there was a better way of connecting the admin and clinical staff together to build relationship.

I have been working at Overlake Medical Center and Clinics full-time

    Pros

I had a positive perception of Overlake before I was employed here and wondered if the organization would live up to it once I got on the inside. I am happy to say that Overlake has exceeded my expectations. It started with new hire orientation. I expected a bunch of dos and don'ts. Instead the chief officers each took turns getting up and explaining why we serve patients and why we do what we do the way we do it. I was blown away at how much of a focus was on culture and the core reason of care. This organization is different in a good way. You can tell by all the smiles you see in the hallways. People are just happier working here. It's healthier than most. The executive leadership's offices are right in the middle of the hospital and they are incredibly accessible. Leadership here is open and interested in input and being the best. During orientation the COO offered the class his cell phone number. I've never had a chief officer that open to input. They are invested here. When I was in the lab getting compliance done one of the first things I heard was that everyone in HR is so nice. I agree. HR has been nothing but helpful in helping me get settled. Great benefits. I look forward to taking advantage of the tuition reimbursement program. Glad to be part of team Overlake.

    Cons

I don't believe any company is perfect because no one is perfect, but this one is really focused on being as good as you can get.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do. We're heading great places!
