All of the pharmacists are very understanding
    Very welcoming
    Always open to questions

I worked at Overland Park Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Director of unit cares about staff.
    Clean well equipped environment.
    Centralized location.
Free turkey after thanksgiving for holiday bonus
    Coworkers are like family

    Cons

Constant turn over of staff from top to bottom. I don’t even know if we have a CEO or CNO this week. They leave more frequently than i get a bathroom break.
Staffing is deplorable. Nurse patient ratio is dangerous. I understand the dynamics of staffing. An influx of patients can make the floor a hopping mess on any given moment. At OPRMC every single shift starts short staffed and ends even shorter staffed. It’s not uncommon to start a day 3-4 nurses short and for it to end 5 plus nurses short. Benefits are expensive and if you take off for a procedure or a baby you will lose your health benefits before you get back to work. No benefit for having seniority other than they cap your hourly salary so you no longer get raises.

    Advice to Management

Apply your core values to taking care of the people who take care of your business. Your 401k overhaul is a life time pay cut for those concerned about retiring before they die. Patient nurse ratios are dangerous . Benefits need to be affordable. Management has told us we are replaceable, but to my patients I am not replaceable.

I have been working at Overland Park Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers, supervisor is outstanding

    Cons

Benefits are lacking, for instance employer doesn't cover insurance during maternity leave, hospital is understaffed putting strain on nursing staff, hospital administration encourages patients to perceive hospital as if it is a hotel

    Advice to Management

Demand that patients respect hospital staff and act accordingly, step up your benefits package, tell your ER docs to stop admitting patients for stupid reasons, stop pandering to drug seeking patients

I have been working at Overland Park Regional Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice location and facility with great additions. The hospital really is making an effort to keep up with other area hospitals.

    Cons

Awful pay and benefits when compared to other local hospitals, frequent changes in leadership, and there's very little concern for nurses complaints

    Advice to Management

They need to take concerns more seriously and stop being so money hungry. All they care about is Press Gainey scores and little about anything else.
