I worked at Owens Corning full-time

    Pros

Heavy focus on leadership and personal development

    Cons

Slow movement on growth in a very cyclical industry (Building Materials)

I worked at Owens Corning full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful campus, great people to work with. I had the chance to work and train with executive leadership as well as our customers in the field. Many perks such as on-site company car rentals, corporate jet, nice facilities, corporate trainings. I learned a lot in my time here.

    Cons

The company decided to change directions just a couple of months after I started, and my job was eliminated. I wasn't offered any other positions at OC; that was such a disappointment. I was just beginning to learn the ropes here, and wish I could have stayed long-term. As an individual with a disability, I had higher hopes for this organization's diversity and inclusion policy.

    Advice to Management

Some leaders are more experienced, empathetic, and knowledgeable than others. A more formalized mentorship program with goals and metrics for all new employees and leaders might be useful. Help dedicated employees transition to different roles rather than disposing of them.

I worked at Owens Corning full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

401 K contributions are very competitive. Bonuses are normally 7-10 % of annual pay. Nice % off of stock options.

    Cons

Indirect personnel always want to "HELP" which in turn creates a lot more work and no value in the end. Just seems to slow things down

    Advice to Management

    Weed out indirect job titles.

I have been working at Owens Corning full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart company with very talented CEO. Takes care of salary people with continuous education opportunities and cross functional training.

    Cons

Workload can be intensive at the plant level with limited resources. Corporate is in Toledo which doesn't necessarily provide a great work life balance if you aren't from the area.

    Advice to Management

Real smart people in management that say the right things when it counts. Some need to spend a little more time in the plants to get their perspective on how much people are doing there.
