I have been working at Oyster Bay Wines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No oversight/independence. Focused approach and only two brands to work with

    Cons

Quite an unprofessional environment/drinking/politics...hard to make any career advances in the sales environment...must be favorited. I've seen some shady things by my coworkers and management. Pay and benefits is horrible and business strategies are slow and outdated.

    Advice to Management

Be honest pay more and hire talent and give your employees more tools to work with instead of outdated things

    Pros

They pay from $45k-$55k for the admin roles so don't ask for the lower end of the spectrum, or you'll get it.

    Cons

Admin jobs are repetitive, but they are anywhere.

I worked at Oyster Bay Wines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

flexible hours, good pay for a part time job.
    good deal of personal freedom.

    Cons

Very unorganized, my boss on my first day was supposed to show me the ropes for my first tasting. She was 2 hours late. i was fortunate that purely by coincidence kind-hearted fellow wine vendor happened to be just leaving when i was trying to get set up and She helped me get situated. The Job it self is easy as long as your a personable and positive individual with a decent sales acumen and a love and knowledge of wine.

No commission or incentive for exceptional sales.

I worked at Oyster Bay Wines full-time

    Pros

Average (at best) compensation, strong global brand recognition, fairly comprehensive onboarding process.

    Cons

There is a startling lack of professionalism across the board. The most disturbing of which was exhibited by management; micromanaging, bullying and harassment to name a few. The blatant abuse of power by unqualified management made Oyster Bay a detrimental environment to work in.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate people occupying management roles in an effort to demonstrate respect for employees.

    Pros

Working in a variety of places going to different bottle shops to promote the product. Meeting heaps of different people.

    Cons

Shifts were short, usually only 3 hours and sometimes quite a distance to travel.

I worked at Oyster Bay Wines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great portfolio of wines, okay work/life balance, nice office environment and generally okay office staff.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations, very average staff benefits and salary, very little opportunities for advancement, poisonous corporate culture and product training verging on staff brainwashing, inconsistent and deceitful Managerial approach to HR issues, HR department and policies almost non-existent, zero transparency with Management decision-making.

    Advice to Management

Be more open with your staff, treat them like humans and not robots, revise your hiring policy regarding middle-Management, look at increasing staff benefits/salaries and revise your staff training as this is the worst of any company I've ever worked with.
