    Pros

Easy to obtain a job with them to gain experience

    Cons

Terrible management and if you want people to work hard treating them the way you do is not how you do it. Rude and demanding for a company that barely gets business inside of stores because it's not that great. If you work a certain amount of hours with most companies let's say 8 hrs are dedicated to a store if you are there and trying and working you get to say you worked 8hrs even if you didn't make the 100$/hr quota with PUR they tell you that you can't claim your hours until you actually sell. So they want you driving all over the place to work at slow stores and even if you have driven around to stores all day working and trying to sell for 8hrs but only sold 300$ they will tell you to claim you worked 4 or 5hrs. That is not okay. Most other lines will not treat you like that and value your time and work. Just trust the things you hear and don't do it!

    Advice to Management

Employees time is important and if you treat them this way they won't stay and after they hit or are let go or what have you be prepared for them to make sure they will never speak highly of your line again. Treat your employees correctly and hey will want to make sales for you

I worked at Pür Minerals part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

free gratis, fun environment at ulta

    Cons

They do NOT communicate with you, they promise you an hourly rate and later if you don't meet your very high goal they lower the rate or they fire you! such a horrible company to work for!

    Advice to Management

Your goals are too high! not a lot of people like PUR! it is very hard to convince people to like you! you should NOT take it out on the employee if they don't meet their goal! keep in mind there are a lot of other awesome companies at the same store as you so you will not always sell the same amount! STOP BEING SELFISH!

I have been working at Pür Minerals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The products are lovely. The management staff is amazing and dedicated to training and developing their team to grow the brand and remain relevant.

    Cons

It would be nice to be able to give freelancers more hours to reduce turnover. However, the cosmetic industry is busiest around holiday season and of course slower during the spring/ summer months thus needing less staff

I have been working at Pür Minerals (More than a year)

    Pros

Great communication between boss and artists! Great training! Pretty much set up for success! A lot of the reviews on here people are complaining about not getting hours... Well the thing is, is that hours are given based upon making your goals and relationships made in store. So if you do "your job" then you get hours. That simple. I love it here! I work hard and get praised for it! If you have a great work ethic you'd love it also!

    Cons

Sometimes with these jobs it is great pay but of course I would love if we could get compensated for driving so much! Other than that no cons!

    Advice to Management

Show your freelancers that you appreciate them! I love being here because I feel appreciated for the hard work that I put in!

    Pros

Easy way to get your foot in the door in the freelance make up industry. Can be lucrative during holiday season when stores are busy and require a lot of support.

    Cons

Difficult to communicate with anyone in management. Hours are not promised month-to-month and there is definite favoritism when it comes to store locations and hours allotted per artist. Some artists will have full time hours and some will only have 5 hours a week simply because of the preference of the AE. SPH goals are possible when there is good foot traffic during the busier times of the year, but slower seasons means losing your hours because there are no customers to sell to. No warning of hours being cut out of budget, you will not receive warning but instead communication will be cut off totally with no explanation. Meaning, you need to have a solid back up job if/when things don't work out. No bonus for artists who make SPH. Gratis is promised but not actually given when on goal.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with your artists in the field. Show some flexibility on SPH when stores are all down on foot traffic. Give artists a heads up when hours are cut rather than just cutting off all communication. Give gratis, bonuses, or raises to artists who work hard in the field and make their goal. Ensure that all artists are treated equally and allocate equal hours to everyone on the team.

I worked at Pür Minerals full-time

    Pros

At one point the field team was really great....hard working, authentic people who really loved the brand. They do make a nice powder foundation.

    Cons

Turn and burn attitude toward employees at ALL levels-not just freelancers. You see so many freelance reviews on this site because the company is dependent on freelancers shoving it down customer's throats instead of relying on high quality, innovative products that should sell themselves. The turnover among executives and freelancers AND corporate employees is nothing short of outrageous and extremely telling of the company's lack of regard for its people.

    Advice to Management

Be aware of the horrendous reputation you have in the beauty industry....your brand is a joke as are its fearless leaders.

    Pros

The few gratis products you get.
Good pay, but the mental stress you'll experience is not worth it.
Great company discount on the products.
No boss is breathing down your neck and you get to build your business, they will however breathe down your neck electronically.
    The products are great quality.

    Cons

Complete unheard lack of boundaries. The way the account execs run the business is close to a mental torture chamber! .You're N E V E R off, even when you're off. They only pay you for the hours spent in store, so when the account exec reach out to you excessively any given day of the week to have 'talks' about your sales (outside of the days you're working) which is quite often, or do conference calls mid week -although the work hours are usually scheduled between Thursday and Sunday- it's all unpaid and expected for you to do and be available for. The chat forum that's utilized to communicate with the team , have message alerts going off non stop and is constantly bombarded with numbers and messages about how far behind we all are-that's expected to be read (again, even on your days off). Completely unrealistic sales goals. When you don't reach your goal it's expected you catch up AND reach your set goal on the following shift and there is no end to how many times you have to hear about it in the group chat room (that all freelance artist have access to = 'public' humiliation+ Unnecessary stress) as well as through text messages and emails.
If you're not 100% to goal they will hold back your hours unless you have a talk with the acct exec.
All the stores have the same daily goal regardless of traffic lol.

No benefits or anything associated with a full time job, but it's required you're available to them 7 days a week.
If you're looking to get a foot in the beauty business by all means apply. They're hiring heavy in the Facebook beauty forums , which should alert you that something is not right.

    Advice to Management

If you're wondering why you have such a high turnover rate, read the above mentioned things under cons and you've got your answer. I have never seen anything like it, and hope you realize your products are great and speak for itself, you don't have to run your freelance artists to the ground in that process.
Generally your artists are being told to 'watch out' for you guys by other vendors, as your reputation is not the best, and after this experience , I understand why. The beauty industry is like any other industry and the artist communicate and exchange experiences amongst each other.
The style of management is not healthy and you should seriously learn to draw boundaries and positive reinforcement instead of the constant stress and imposing on people's lives outside of work. It's not constructive or a catalyst for boosting sales.
