I worked at PACCAR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of upward mobility. High turnover means that the company rewards you for staying around. Your coworkers will be pretty great on a whole. Also PACCAR will probably be around for 100 more years (and probably in the same building)

    Cons

Executive management is out of touch. Some things will seem draconian at first. Pay is lower than average.

    Pros

Tons and tons of opportunity to move around, try new projects or even move divisions.

    Cons

Very lean company often stretching groups to the absolute max and this will not change.

    Advice to Management

Adapt to growing area offerings and hire more skilled applicants rather than new grads.

    Pros

You can gain experience and look for another job.

    Cons

Buddy system for Senior Management, declining sales, is like working in 1950's

    Advice to Management

Get a new General Manager and Assistant GM that are not a "truck" guys and understands the business before the current trend of declining sales and losing customers can not be revert

I worked at PACCAR (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people; convenient headquarters. Nice to only work a strict 8-5 schedule.

    Cons

Horrible HR practices, bad managers, even worst employee engagement. Every day there I spent in fear of not only my own manager, but the chairman.

    Pros

Everybody knows about this company. Job security is very high if you do not work on the manufacturing side. This industry will be around a while. Lots of room for opportunity in different fields

    Cons

Management needs to catch up to the times. Classes being taught about millenials to tenured employees is pointless because they do not know how to handle the new generation of employees coming in. Culture is good from employee to employee but the work culture is not desirable... wear tie and slacks everyday... no facial hair... must wear suit if you go to corporate. No working from home, no flex time, and company is behind on internal technologies

    Advice to Management

Learn to handle the millenials better or they are going to be hurting for quality employees 3-5 years out. Retention is good with the older employees but the young ambitious millenials will only use this as a pit stop to better things unless things change

    Pros

Good for your resume. Company performance is stable.

    Cons

Buddy system runs rampant amongst upper management, promotion is based on that as opposed to having it be based off skill.

I worked at PACCAR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong economic stability in the industry, opportunities for advancement within and out of divisions, decent commute depending on where you live. Very professional work environment with solid structure. Great place to kick off your career and develop skills further.

    Cons

Employees look like they are having the worst day of their life, every day. Constant turnover due to poor work life balance, causing issues getting unresolved and left behind for the next person. Most employees at the entry to mid level are replaceable in the eyes of senior management. This is reflected in the terrible compensation given the area the company is located in. Formal dress policy everyday. Even a slight color shade deemed "unprofessional" may get you sent home. Employees never feel truly comfortable in the environment fostered here. High workload is expected with minimal appreciation given.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times if you plan to attract new talent.
