I worked at PAETEC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You have knowledgeable resources like network support staff, nds/se, and product managers. The sales teams are friendly and willing to help.

    Cons

Company culture took a downward turn and the "pillars" that held together before started crumbling, specifically, employee opinions and feedback.

    Advice to Management

Needs to take a look at impacts to the entire org, region, etc in the long run before making any decisions for "attractive" short term metrics.

I worked at PAETEC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The on-boarding was a good experience. Management was helpful at times. They have a pretty good reputation in the industry.

    Cons

If you are an SAE or an AE, you are on your own when it comes to list management and development. There is absolutely zero visibility into existing customers, so there is a lot of unnecessary prospecting into untouchable existing customers. Commission structure is antiquated at best.

    Advice to Management

Be forward thinkers and stop trying to emulate the incumbents.

    Pros

Your ideas and opinions mattered. You felt that you were part of a team. When the company was young they were more generous with perks, such as free lunches, tuition reimbursement, 401k matching, generous bonuses and office parties.

    Cons

The bigger the company got, all these benefits just went away. There was a long period with a freeze on raises, 4 years. When they announced that there would be no raises once again in 2011, everyone started looking for new jobs. Management quickly changed their minds and started to give raises again. While the raises were being taken care of, it was announced that the company was getting acquired. Naturally, many positions have been eliminated with the acquistion and I'm sure their not done yet.
