I have been working at PAETEC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

What was once a great company was, in the end, fleeced by its creators.

    Cons

two-faced and greedy management, has trickled down to sub-par service and reliability. Management is played the shell game with the company's debt and grew by acquisition -- piling on more debt. This created an untenable situation and the Windstream purchase was the only way out. Now the employees are part of a behemoth telecom company -- something we all fought against just a few years ago. It takes a different mentality to be another sheep in a company like Windstream. Good luck and good riddance.

    I worked at PAETEC full-time

    Pros

Your ideas and opinions mattered. You felt that you were part of a team. When the company was young they were more generous with perks, such as free lunches, tuition reimbursement, 401k matching, generous bonuses and office parties.

    Cons

The bigger the company got, all these benefits just went away. There was a long period with a freeze on raises, 4 years. When they announced that there would be no raises once again in 2011, everyone started looking for new jobs. Management quickly changed their minds and started to give raises again. While the raises were being taken care of, it was announced that the company was getting acquired. Naturally, many positions have been eliminated with the acquistion and I'm sure their not done yet.
