I worked at PEG Bandwidth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

PEG Bandwidth was a great place to work. I had the opportunity to work with some of the brightest individuals in the industry. I had the ability to work in the Network Operations Center where we got to have a direct impact on daily business.

    Cons

The only issue I had was there was a shortage of people so we had trouble getting some very important issues resolved. Because you had people handing multiple functions.

I worked at PEG Bandwidth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean vehicle fleet, co-workers are nice, good pay, phone allowance, benefits are not that expensive, time sheets are all automated.

    Cons

They expect you to be gone for 3 weeks out of every month to locations that are very remote. Most of the work is at night regardless of the weather. They don't pay for the hotel rooms you have to put out that expense as well as paying all your bills for the home you get to vacation at for about 90 days a year.

    Advice to Management

Balance the travel more, two weeks away from is enough. Being somewhere for 3 weeks out of every month is moving. Hire management that's actually performed the job functions of those they are managing. Pay for hotels stop being cheap.

    Pros

A firm with true growth potential in the Telecommunications Industry. A solid group of professionals working in a shared vision.

    Cons

In office turnover [In the Texas Location] made for some repeated retooling of the workforce learning skills.

    Advice to Management

Appreciation of the hard working team members would lead to a better stable workforce.

    Pros

New culture, somewhat progressive. People are friendly

    Cons

Company is struggling financially, creating an environment in which cost containment is considered most important. This includes compensation for employees. Example, company doesn't do 12 month reviews now; it does 24 month instead.

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for.

I have been working at PEG Bandwidth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PEG has a great corporate environment. Yes it's technically still a start up with the typical growing pains of any successful growing company. However everything that can be done for the employees and customers at PEG is being done to improve business. You have VP, C-Level, and an HR Director that truly do care about where PEG is going and how they get there.

    Cons

Still battling some fires left in place by former high level management. Not necessarily a Con but does require some rolled up sleeves and fortitude.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to hire people smarter/ more knowledgeable than you.

    Pros

Fast paced, lots of technology to learn and work with

    Cons

recent 10% reduction in workforce including the CTO, very chaotic, no industry standard monitoring tools, change management is a joke.

I have been working at PEG Bandwidth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of really good people that work here.
    Growing very fast.

    Cons

Long hours, day and night. Work-life balance can be terrible at times.
Constantly on call 24x7 without any compensation.
PEG does not spend money on anything which costs them more in the long run. From tools to fleet vehicles to the equipment they use is the cheapest available.
Everything is a fire drill here and needs to have been done yesterday.
    Leadership is too centralized.

    Advice to Management

Start respecting the work life balance of your employees.
Spend money on quality equipment, tools, and trucks. It makes for a better work place and moral.
Compensate your employees and be will to give pay raises!
