I worked at PERT Survey Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting research topics and client base including some major CPG brands and liquor brands. The pace was fast which was a plus.

    Cons

The pay isn't great and there is a pretend hierarchy between field operations and client services. Field operations folks are treated as CS lackeys.

    Advice to Management

Create career paths that move between verticals and functions.

I have been working at PERT Survey Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, casual dress, good work/life balance so far

    Cons

Very top heavy since merger with MSS. Way too many chiefs. Employees resign and are not replaced, work gets reassigned so work/life balance is going to change. Just laid off 12 people - handled poorly. Clients base is diminishing. Clients don't like a few of the executives

    Advice to Management

Cut at the top next time unless you are going to do all the extra work. Outsourcing is going to come back to bite you. Ask the other research firms how that worked for them. Your president sank his previous company. . . It's happening again.

    Pros

    Smart people, intelligently run business.
HR actually functions as HUMAN resources! They provide very helpful advice and guidance and definitely aim to keep the employees as their main focus rather than the bottom line.

    Cons

understaffed at times, which can make fora hectic workload.

    Advice to Management

management could stand to put more of their focus on generating new business and maintining c-level relationships rather than getting involved in the minutia of projects, but it is nice to know that no one is "above" getting their hands dirty.

I worked at PERT Survey Research full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Pert Group (now Acturus) provided a great foundation for my market research career. They supported me in receiving the training that was needed, and I was put in positions with a lot of trust and responsibility, which helped me grow in market research, client management, and presentation skills.

    Cons

The salary structure was slow to change and was not competitive. The company overall is more of a traditional research firm and is therefore more risk averse to new methodologies. There was not as much room to experiment, and the internal politics, particularly at the senior level, were tiresome.

I worked at PERT Survey Research full-time

    Pros

Smart people, Pert was growing with lots of new people. Looking to expand business and plans to hire to support new functions and account work.

    Cons

Some of the new hires rocked the boat.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to company beliefs and not let new people push new employees around.

    Cons

work life balance was tough to come buy particularly during busy highs which was draining overall

    Advice to Management

continue to encourage work life balance to maintain moral of employees during high volume stess periods

I have been working at PERT Survey Research full-time

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, no strict dress code, no one breathing down your neck, monthly group activities, able to telecommute once a week

    Cons

Not a lot of transparency with upper management, some members of management strive more for personal gain than a group effort, constantly changing org structure, keep hiring from the outside so it's discouraging to upward mobility

    Advice to Management

be more transparent with employees, give employees an opportunity to interview for higher positions before offering to outside interviewers

I worked at PERT Survey Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At PERT I had lots of work to complete, a fair amount of autonomy and some client interaction as a junior associate

    Cons

Lots of work without much opportunity to grow beyond it. Lots of people get started at PERT, get chewed up (and learn a lot) then leave, perhaps to come back.
