I have been working at PGA TOUR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pretty good benefits, the TOUR offers health, dental, vision, 401k, pension, and even pet insurance. They also have a tuition assistance program. They offer various Lunch & Learns and many other learning opportunities. Some departments have the budget to send their employees to work conferences to expand their career expertise.

Great job to have on your resume and a great charitable organization. They are actively working toward a more diverse and inclusive work place. The TOUR has "YOU" groups that focus in affinities such as: Women in Leadership, Multicultural, Work-Life, and a Military & First Responders group. The TOUR also has the initiative to create a more collaborative work place which has lead to the "Global Home" project where all TOUR employees will share 1 new HQ building instead of 20 different ones.

    Cons

The TOUR is reactive instead of proactive. They find strategies that have worked for other companies and try to retrofit them to the fit the needs of the TOUR. There are not many "new" ideas coming from upper management. Also, the TOUR is VERY corporate, very involved with office politics. They may be trying to act like they are loosening up and that they are not a "old white man" kind of company but that effort is taking many many year to actually accomplish.

    Advice to Management

Spend less time worrying about office politics and more time trying to be a trend setter. Be a leader in sports not a reactor.

I have been working at PGA TOUR full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some benefits are decent, company is growing

    Cons

Culture needs lots of work, seriously lacking in diversity and women in higher level leadership roles. Very slow to change, always reacting instead of being proactive.

    Advice to Management

Look at how to retain good employees, the processes and policies are driving them out the door.

I worked at PGA TOUR full-time

    Pros

Looks good on resume, good experience and learned a lot, mostly nice people, perks of the job were exciting events and athletes

    Cons

Top heavy, very political, executive egos are off the charts, must kiss up or steamroll to get anywhere, overly competitive, bad work-life balance, will easily get rid of someone quickly and quietly with no explanation

    Advice to Management

Be more invested in the people you hire vs. just getting rid of them, work harder to develop people, increase pay, egos need to be checked

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities, plenty of connections and people to engage with. Many ways to grow through the company or succeed elsewhere in the future.

    Cons

Poor communication at times. A lot of moving parts mixed with a massive clientele base creates chaos occasionally. No clear defined set of standards for all members

I worked at PGA TOUR part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When the money is good, it’s worth the hell you put up with from management. Cool coworkers, even though the turn over is crazy quick.

    Cons

Poorly managed across the board. Food and beverage department is a mess and the director is curt and uninformed. Extremely disorganized
