I worked at PGA TOUR full-time

    Pros

Free golf at TPC Sawgrass, free entrance to most PGA TOUR golf events

    Cons

Low compensation - you will be paid $8.05 per hour (before taxes). Commission isn't anything special. You will struggle financially if you don't have additional financial support.

Once you take this job, you will only be able to work in Sales at the PGA TOUR. You will NOT be able to work in any other department at PGA TOUR HQ.

If you have the opportunity to be promoted, you will be promoted to another PGA TOUR/WEB.com/Champions Tour tournament - you have little to no say on where you want to go geographically. You are placed at a tournament based on "fit", which is decided by people who really don't take the time to get to know you personally.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent on the details of this position to candidates during the interview process.

    Pros

Devoted company caring for their employees. The Tour provides the best tools for you to succeed in your career.

    Cons

As field staff, the travel was extensive. The medical benefits are not ideal.

I worked at PGA TOUR part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Getting a chance to meet professional golfers. The chance to meet people that you can further your career with once you graduate college because this is not a lifetime job

    Cons

Arrogant food and beverage director, general manager that rules with an attitude of "it's my way or the highway", worst employee food program I have ever seen unless you like leftovers of leftovers, they promised to let us play the golf course but we rarely get a chance to play the course, and if you are not friends with the Management or the more experienced workers then you will be left out in the cold

    Advice to Management

Fire the upper management and quit lying to the members. Stop letting a few employees dictate when they work and who they work with

I have been working at PGA TOUR full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good first job but should be an internship, like a family

    Cons

If you have an offer for a team sport take it instead. You will hate your life in this job. You will be promised a lot during your interview. I would not have accepted if I knew what it was really like. It's all luck and sucking up. Sit by the incoming line and suck up and you will get promoted

    Advice to Management

don't lie to get people to take the job. hold everyone to the same rules

I worked at PGA TOUR (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great group of people pulling together for the event. Access to top of the line resources. Long hours, but rewarding work.

    Cons

Growth can be tough to come by. Very competitive and clicks can develop. The name of the Tour carries weight, but also has downfalls.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the human resources department. Too much good talent walking out the door when change is made with out proper feedback.

I worked at PGA TOUR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good people and good employee benefits. Reasonable days off and quality of life balance. Changes may bring a better environment in the future.

    Cons

No growth opportunities and salaries are low. Raises are also low and not in keeping with market value. No diversity and access to educational and professional growth tracks for employees with tenure. Not flexible to working mothers and the environment creates an unsocial atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Create opportunities for existing employees. Try to keep good talent and foster growth. Work on diversity company wide.
