I worked at PGi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you'll work with here are great. They'll treat you like family, which I always felt was important to the overall atmosphere. It's a great place to start your career, especially in the tech industry in Atlanta as PGi is well known locally.

    Cons

There have been a lot of changes that has forced the company to downsize which has caused some restrictions on resources. Many of the younger associates and managers here do all of the leg work without any recognition, let alone any sort of ability to advance in their career or have access to opportunities to sharpen their skills. A lot of time is spent putting out fires that could've been avoided with proper resources. Company culture has also declined a bit over the last year and it kind of shows when you walk in the office.

    Advice to Management

Work on having a proactive strategy rather than reactive. Appreciate and recognize the hard work your employees are doing. Be transparent about career opportunities and focus on helping employees thrive. Even though resources are tight, a team building activity here and there can do wonders for your team's morale, that seems to have been forgotten.

Haven't fully adopted the telecommuting thing.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at PGi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, co-workers almost feel like family. The company itself is fantastic and takes great care of its employees and the community. A lot of the people here have worked here for more than a decade, so the longevity of people's careers here say so much about what kind of company they are.

    Cons

The only "con" is that I didn't join the team sooner.

Listen to the expertise and experiences of those you supervise... that's why they're there!

    Pros

The people are amazing. Everyone truly cares for each other as well as our customers. We are constantly innovating which can present its own internal challenges, but our customers really love our services. Management has always been excellent with communication. Many of our customers have been with us for decades and there are good reasons why.

    Cons

Well, it's very busy all of the time, if you consider that a con.

    Advice to Management

    We need more people.

I worked at PGi part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working from home is the pro. Being able to work in pjs with no drive is a huge pro. If your older child is sick you can be home (the company DOES expect you to work still)

    Cons

There is very little flexibility. You must make up your vacation hours. Management micromanaged everyone. Morale is low because the company sets programs up to be non user friendly then pushes employees for productivity and then punishes with write ups when errors happen.

    Cons

    - Poor Communication
    - Terrible HR Department
    - Review Sessions are painstaking
    - Shifts in ownership leave a gap in leadership

    Advice to Management

I worked for a company that was acquired by PGi shortly after joining. Our business division worked independently, with support from our parent co. PGi in some areas. The great thing was that as far as senior leadership, they were very easygoing and good to work with. However, the lack of leadership or any direction were a big issue at the company. I felt that my work was almost like a "nice to have" and never really felt a part of the ancillary departments that make the company move. We were and continue to be one of the most successful divisions in the company, but I never felt as we were. No bonuses, raises were hard to come by and leadership was missing. My advice to management is to chat with your employees, get an understanding of their contribution to the company. As a matter of fact, hold more meetings. I felt that instead of being over-booked for meetings we were under-booked. Communication needs to improve from top down and vice versa. Great company, just needs to invest in their employees who actually care about the company.
