I worked at PGi full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-GREAT Management. They're very caring and supportive
    -Good benefits
-Fun culture with outside events and employee appreciation
-Team oriented sales approach where it's encouraged to strategize with management.
    -Communicative corporate culture

    Cons

    -Cubicle environment can get gossipy
-Lots of phone and desk work, little people interaction (Just a personal con)
-Due to the high customer base, little actual relationship building takes place on the lower levels
-Highly sales-based job (Again, just a personal preference)

    Advice to Management

Nothing honestly, the manager that I had was easily one of the best managers that I'd ever had the opportunity to work with. He was understanding, considerate, and knowledgeable. The job itself wasn't my cup of tea, but the organization is great and shows its employees that it cares.

    Cons

Struggling to know who they are and resources are spread too thinly to accomplish missions. Little to no process definition and slow to adopt new ways of doing things.

I have been working at PGi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours and base salary for engineering staff better than average IMO. Colo Springs nice place to live for many. The company has stable if somewhat stagnate revenues which translates into relative job stability (especially compared to much of the defense related work in the area). Quite a hodgepodge of new and old technologies employed here, but generally it's a company endeavoring to become more cloud based.

    Cons

No 401K match. Company phasing out traditional PPO medical insurance for high deductible HSA with no subsidized co-pay's for office or RX (you basically pay retail until deductible met). $50 X-mas gift card. Raises are few and far between for salaried positions. 2 weeks vacation to start and takes several years to get more. Not a lot of team building, free lunches, etc. Teams tend to be insular with little upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees as essential contributors to your current and future success. Improve your medical, vacation, and retirement offerings to attract and retain talent.

    Pros

The vast majority of the people are fantastic to work with. The culture is dynamic and people are willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Being driven by sales and marketing ensures customers are getting the attention they need.

    Cons

Very small inner circle that has historically favored sales and marketing investments over technology and operations...not necessarily a bad thing, but just a little out of balance in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

Open up the inner circle and listen to those who have experience transforming and running other companies. Invest in core technology and operations to improve the customer experience.

    Pros

Very ethical company that treats employees well and there are a ton of great people working there. Innovative and fun products.

    Cons

Rapidly shifting management priorities. Raises hard to come by, but they pay out for new employees. They are challenged to actually sell through on their technology.

    Advice to Management

Pick a direction and stick with it. Give sales better direction on how to position your products. Keep up the great innovations!
