    No agency is perfect but...

    Pros

There's strong culture, a commitment to innovation and evolution and relatively limited politics. On the whole work/life balance is great - with most of the place empty before 8:30 and after 5:30. A big upward trajectory over the last couple of years has helped set the tone and build momentum.

    Cons

The office space has had challenges with exterior refurbishment and floors being re-done in the last two years.

    Really Great Starting Place

    Pros

PHD gives you an expedited and well-rounded introduction to the media agency world. But more importantly, it really allows you to gain experience quickly, which in turn will afford you a lot when you're looking for jobs in the future. Depending which account you're on, you have room to add more work to your plate if you're an active hand-raiser. The company culture is pretty fun, and you can easily take part in planning the company outings/volunteering/holiday parties — also, the semi-weekly Happy Hours are a nice touch too :). Work-life balance isn't a concern if you're cool with the "life" part being some really fun outings with clients and partners/vendors!

    Cons

Depending what type of client you have (entertainment is a good example), you can definitely be expecting to work long and tiring hours with quick turnover time and little to no advance notice. Team spirit is based largely on which team you are placed on, and there's no guarantee that you will fit into the general vibe of your team. Upward mobility can oftentimes be based on either luck (i.e. if they need you to be promoted) or your relationships with team management — that said, it isn't always merit based. Work-life balance might be a concern if your 'life' is outside of your work friends.

    The land of opportunity

Oct 26, 2014 - Strategist in Chicago, IL

    Pros

The people here are great! Since it's a smaller company you have the opportunity to get involved in a lot of things around the office. We have access to many research and training tools since we are under the Omnicom umbrella.

    Cons

Compensation could be better. It's been almost 2 years since i've had a raise. I have a few friends that went to other companies and received a raised for a lateral move. There are a few accounts that have a lot of turnover, so beware. The reason is because some of the accounts don't have a good work/life balance. Team members often have to stay late.

    Underappreciated and understaffed

May 11, 2021 - Strategy Supervisor in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good holiday schedule and summer Fridays Great lower level team members Can have good work life balance if you're on the right team

    Cons

No one in upper management or c suite leadership cares about the people actually doing the work Promotions take too long and are based only on finance, not your growth Salaries are non negotiable and pitifully low in comparison to the agency's and industries average Learning is not prioritized once you're not an assistant Dedication to the agency is not rewarded and current employees are not compensated enough. The sole focus is on getting new hires while good talent that is crucial to the agency leaves Accounts are understaffed because good people leave and cannot be replaced fast enough. The positions emptied often never get filled again Only the big flashy accounts get attention with resources
