    Negative Outlook

    Pros

You can get an good understanding of the financial market, but not much upside potential

    Cons

The culture is obviously no good - that's also explained by Gross's leave. Long hours of work and not appreciated unless you get the results your boss want - usually the department head will think of a conclusion and you find evidence to prove it, even it is not right.

    Advice to Management

They shall consider carefully when hiring senior person, a bad hire will screw up the whole department. After a senior hire from a former collapsed company, the team exploded and culture changed dramatically, things and promotions are judged by your relationship with department head instead of your actual work - this is very harmful to the company. People shall again focus on work not politics.

I worked at PIMCO full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great compensation and health benefits - decent investment products that are easy to market and sell.

Due to the massive attrition they are now starting to offer retention bonuses. Even though they have plans to lay of employees before bonus time.

    Cons

Horrid leadership, no direction, very disorganized. Layoffs here and there, senior leadership not in tune with anything. High level executives jumping ship.

Culture is very superficial at best, managers, VPs, and senior leaders always ask about your background so they can boast about their personal spoon-fed backgrounds.

No career growth - highly political.

    Advice to Management

Get in tune with reality. Such disjointed teams and vision cause for massive confusion. Instead of hiring temp employees that quit within months, hire qualified full-time employees to help alleviate work loads that are given due to attrition.

Former Employee - Quantitative Research Analyst in Newport Beach, CA

    Pros

Workers are paid well. Company has a trading driven environment and allows lots of flexibility in applying your talent. Managers in general do not push workers as they are mostly busy in working towards their own bonus checks.

    Cons

Company is heavily trading driven and is under-investing in long term well beings.

    Advice to Management

    Go more team lunches
