    Approves of CEO

I worked at PMC-Sierra full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Unlike many other companies, the CEO and upper management actually understand the product catalog and can have a meaningful technical conversation. This generally leads to better high-level decisions about product lines and R&D planning.

    Cons

The Houston office is small with not a lot of room for growth. If you want long-term career advancement options as an engineer, you'd be better off in one of the offices in California or British Columbia. Product engineering schedules are usually set by marketing/sales teams, and rarely have any connection to reality (e.g. only scheduling a week for a month-long hardware prototype test process). The result is an environment where everyone is running around putting out proverbial fires and there's no time to improve processes and do things the right way.

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at PMC-Sierra

    Pros

Good overall benefits package. Lots of technology, challenging work. Teams are committed to success. Good opportunities for motivated employees. First and second line managers care.

    Cons

Like a lot of tech companies there was quite a bit of schedule erosion due to constant feature creep from customers. Some sacrifice of long term commitment for short term gains.
