I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people that work here, all willing to help, friendly, basic office job/not too much to it, incentive is possible...

    Cons

They changed the way incentive is based and now we no longer make much when we do get it, and that's barely ever. When I first started we got it all the time, now most people are trying to leave the department because they aren't making the same salary. They change things everyday and tell you when its already been changed, no notice.

    Advice to Management

Need to raise base salary if you are going to make it almost impossible to get incentive here. More communication with employees.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, good leadership, track record of success. Truly value their clients.

    Cons

Moving more towards the big bank mentality, which goes against our history and culture.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to be Wells Fargo or BofA. PNC was built on the right balance between driving for results and success, and valuing the client and be sure not to lose that focus.

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fifth largest bank in the United States with a large footprint across the eastern portion of the country. Geographically large area to chose from with regard to location of employment site.

    Cons

One of the lowest paying financial institutions in the industry. Many smaller and some larger financial institutions will pay their employees better and provide better benefits and incentive programs.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on your quarterly bonuses and feeding upon the employees who work for you at much lower pay grades. Give the lower pay grades a raise even if it means you have to take a pay cut. The emphasis on selling noncompetitive financial products to the customer and pressuring employees to constantly sell, sell, sell, can result in serious ramifications for the customer and the bank. Just look at what happened at Wells Fargo.

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Company culture is very employee-oriented
HR & Benefits platform is best-in-class
Responsible and conservative financial institution that has avoided risky loans & investments
Sales management environment encourages ethical sales practices, unlike other large US banks

    Cons

Suffering the same fate as the rest of the banking industry-no customers coming to branches, makes it hard to meet sales goals
In the end upper management is not loyal to long-term employees and eliminates positions of those who have worked there for over 30 years
Compensation for lower level employees is almost insultingly low

    Advice to Management

Stop giving EVP's multi-million dollar bonuses every year and pass some of those earnings down to the people actually driving business

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Promotion opportunities, recognition, raises when deserved, team oriented, very high corporate support, flexible hours. I work for a great team, it may not be the same management or team characteristics at other locations.

    Cons

Very product knowledge demanding, sales matter to an extreme. This could be a good thing, depends on your perception. Not a job to sit and study for class. No benefits for part-time.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing, continue to show support and recognition towards the teller team.

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are no pros to work in HR at PNC.

    Cons

There are many. Lack of communication, unless you happen to HR management's pet. Favoritism Management makes employment status based solely on favoritism not business needs. Management does not allow every team member to do their jobs based on favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Do not allow direct managers to decide job elimination. Increase severance packages to a time frame more in line with how people over 50 actually get employment Stop using life coaches as career coaches. Offer career placement services as options for severed employees instead of useless career coaches. Use a list of severed employees to fill open positions before allowing the positions to be posted on job board sites such as Indeed. Require the supervisors of severed employees to place employees in open positions. Reduce the pay of any manager that eliminates the jobs of employees with over 30 years experience.

    Pros

Very stable work environment. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Poor pay and extremely stodgy IT infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

PNC's technology infrastructure makes working there as a developer very painful. PNC isn't a technology company, it's a bank.
