I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I wouldn't know. I got treated so badly even though I have 30 years of data management experience. My hiring contact was just rude and inappropriate

    Cons

Trying to get past the hiring contact. You get the wrong contact as in data management you're sunk. Have had experience with other management and it's been fine. The data management recruiters are rude and condescending

    Advice to Management

    Get new data management recruiters

I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work from home is a benefit. Flexible work hours. Collegial working relationship with client company. Client company makes one feel welcome and part of the project team.

    Cons

Company does not reward people for a job well done on the long term. There is no bonus plan or stock rewards. The medical benefits are expensive compared to other companies within the industry. There is minimal effort on the part of people managers to develop staff into higher level positions. Have gone though 4 managers in the 2 years I was employed by PRA.

    Advice to Management

Develop plans with direct reports for career advancement within the company and provide annual bonuses or stock grants as a reward for top performers.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is the best part about working here; they are the only thing that keeps me sane most days. My functional managers are extremely supportive and down to earth. PTO is really easy to schedule/they are willing to work with you as long as you set up your back-up ahead of time. We have weekly one-on-ones with our FMs which I think is really valuable.

    Cons

In this position, there is not a whole lot of opportunity for career development. The skills you learn are invaluable, and the longer you stay the more you learn, however, moving into a management position is pretty hard (there are only a few open) There are a ton of corporate deliverables, and then regular day-to-day tasks on top of that, and then ad-hoc tasks on top of that. The workload is way too much for one person to manage and feel like are able to give their best to all the things they are doing, which can be super discouraging.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the work/life balance of your employees; or you'll continue to see turn-over. Remember that the amount of responsibilities that are placed on us are astronomical so its not fair to expect that everything will be perfect. If you cut down the level of things we are responsible for, you would probably see more quality work. Piling stuff on top of your hardest working employees because you know they'll get it done only causes tension and bitterness.

Get with the market and raise our pay to be comparable with other CROs.

    Pros

Senior management is nice. Benefits are great. 4 weeks of PTO to start, health insurance is great and at a decent price, co workers are wonderful, on site gym, breakfast on Fridays, fun Christmas party

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Workload can be extremely stressful. They need to hire more workers to distribute work load better. Company pays less than market rate

    Advice to Management

Give bonuses and hire more workers

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People are nice and treat you like an adult, allowed to work from home, reasonable workload/good quality of life, and beautiful facility if you work in the office. Great job if you don't have ambition to ever change move.

    Cons

Pigeon-holed with little-to-no opportunity for promotion within embedded programs, and no ability to move laterally.

    Advice to Management

Develop a program for growing long term employees in embedded programs.

I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working for my first sponsor with PRA.
Benefits are good (low compensation though)
    Great PTO package
work life balance is good (sponsor dependent )

    Cons

Compensation is low and it is impossible to get them to increase as you move ahead.
Management makes all these promises and do not keep to them.
Employee advancement is encouraged verbally but not supported by action. Their goal is to keep you with the sponsor in the same role - as long as the sponsor is happy. At my second sponsor, my PRA manager acutally told me, as long as they are happy with your work, i don't see why you trying to move to another role." Please note the role was with the same sponsor and my sponsor manager had encouraged this first for my career growth.

    Advice to Management

Compensate your workers adequately and keep your promises. So many good and knowledgable people are leaving because they are not happy because management functions on we'll listen but won't act to ensure your experience continues to be good. The sponsors shouldn't be treating us better than your direct management nor should they be more encouraging of our career growth plans.
