I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Collaborative environment, ability to learn from people with extensive experience and differences, opportunity for promotion and generally, you get back what you put in. Your opinion matters, even if it's not immediately obvious.

    Cons

As with all companies, your manager can make or break your experience; management training is weak, but improving. At the higher levels, infrastructure and communication is a bit weak due to constant changes and growth.

    Advice to Management

Train managers, even at the top level; knowing how to head a service area, does not mean you know how to lead/manage people.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love my coworkers and my functional manager.

    Cons

    - Benefits are not comparable to competitors
    - Communication from the top down is not adequate
    - Bonus plan is terrible

    Advice to Management

You have to spend money to make money. If you're going to insult people with tiny pay raises and bonuses, stop talking about how great the year was and be honest as to why payouts are not up to the expectations set. Transparency at this company seems to be a myth...

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry since I graduated college at various companies. PRA is by far my favorite company. It is so organized and it is run like a well-oiled machine. The management truly cares about the employees and they value a "work/life" balance. The compensation and benefits package cannot be beat. Many of my colleagues are celebrating their 5 and 10 year anniversaries, which says a lot. Once you work at PRA, you will not want to work anywhere else!

    Cons

There are no downsides to working at PRA. It is truly a wonderful place to work!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Work-life balance
    Work from home days,
    Townhall meetings to provide transparency
    laid-back but professional, not micromanaged
    approachable upper-management
Good culture that promotes fun and activities
Decent PTO, Great studies and project teams
In a tough industry, it's good to know that PRA is a CRO that tries to do it right.

    Cons

Employees are somewhat closed off from one another, as individuals working in the same office and department often usually does not work on the same projects.

    Advice to Management

As the company is doing well, reward your employees with bonuses. This would positively reinforce more great work from your employees.

I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The team is the best part about working here; they are the only thing that keeps me sane most days. My functional managers are extremely supportive and down to earth. PTO is really easy to schedule/they are willing to work with you as long as you set up your back-up ahead of time. We have weekly one-on-ones with our FMs which I think is really valuable.

    Cons

In this position, there is not a whole lot of opportunity for career development. The skills you learn are invaluable, and the longer you stay the more you learn, however, moving into a management position is pretty hard (there are only a few open) There are a ton of corporate deliverables, and then regular day-to-day tasks on top of that, and then ad-hoc tasks on top of that. The workload is way too much for one person to manage and feel like are able to give their best to all the things they are doing, which can be super discouraging.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the work/life balance of your employees; or you'll continue to see turn-over. Remember that the amount of responsibilities that are placed on us are astronomical so its not fair to expect that everything will be perfect. If you cut down the level of things we are responsible for, you would probably see more quality work. Piling stuff on top of your hardest working employees because you know they'll get it done only causes tension and bitterness.

Get with the market and raise our pay to be comparable with other CROs.
