I worked at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I had the pleasure of working on the Client Network Services Installation team for a year. The CNS department is a small group of professionals that specialize in internet service and event technology. This is different from the corporate IT team.
-The director and colleagues of the installation team are exceptional people. The team is tight-knit and very efficient. They are welcoming, dedicated, and eager to help.
-Wealth of experience to be had, specifically in the wireless networking area. A lot of room for career growth. Management is supportive and encouraging of growth.
-Salary tends to be higher than similar positions with other companies. Good benefits.
-Little to no interaction with the rest of the corporate team in the office. The majority of people you will deal with while traveling are very professional.
-Frequent travel and stay at four/five star hotels.
-Great work-life balance, when not traveling.
-Sales team, NOC, and event-coordinating team are mostly very professional and friendly people. Still not as cool as the installation team.

    Cons

-Very frequent travel at times. This varies, as I have also experienced several months that I did not travel at all. The team director and project manager are very flexible when working with your schedule.
-You will work some late nights when traveling. Once again, the director/pm are accommodating.
-Constant complaining and bad attitudes from the network operation center. On a daily basis you will get to hear about how much they hate their immediate management. My advice is that you make good with everyone in the NOC, as they will be more eager to help during an emergency (rather than tossing you under the bus).

    Advice to Management

-Stop lumping network engineers into the typical 3% annual pay raise that the AV techs get. The average national network engineer raise sits around 5%.
-Reward employees based on productivity and innovation, not time of service.
-Hiring and promotions are significant for any company, but even more so for CNS. The team dynamics and morale are significantly affected by any personnel decision. The most careful consideration should be taken every single time.
-Preserve the culture of the CNS team.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company with tremendous resources. Structured well with great efficiency.

    Cons

Lots of amazing systems in place when they work but can be overwhelming at times.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to have core values they should be applied to all areas of the company not just where it is convenient. Value people should be at the top of the list. DETs are your overall best investment as they are the face and pulse of the business. Don't promote without the proper training and mentorship as that lowers consistency across the organization. Have a more advanced career path for technicians that don't want to be DETs.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My current directors are fantastic. They have actively coached me and don't everything they can to make our property better. Our benefits are pretty good, and our time off/holidays is pretty generous. My pay is what also pretty good.

    Cons

My former directors made my daily life miserable. My starting pay was low. It's all about your leadership.

    Advice to Management

Don't turn a blind eye to bad leadership in your company. Get them out or into a different role where they can be better.
