I have been working at PSAV full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Went into the accelerated sales development program (ASDP) right out of college which is a 8 week fast track to the sales manager role. I had quite a lot of sales internships and experience prior to applying, so make sure you have a decent resume if you apply to the program. The 8 week training program was an invaluable experience that I recommend to anyone wanting to get into sales and the Event Technology industry. The skills and knowledge I have acquired from the program will help me in any career path I end up in. Everyone I work with is extremely helpful, kind, and enjoys their job with PSAV. I know it varies by location, but for myself and most of the people in my ASDP group that has been the general experience. Very generous base pay and commission plan for college graduates, just need to be willing to put in the work and hours! Many career advancement opportunities and an awesome company culture. It is the AV industry which is entertainment, so most of the time the people you work with are more chill and relaxed, but like to get business done and appreciate hard work when it is needed.

    Cons

-Slow seasons in the hotel sales services can be long and boring days... but hey you are still getting paid!
-Will work over the 40 hours a week they say you do, but sometimes less.
-HR and the hotel locations could be in better touch with each other.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing your thing!

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've worked both Tech & Sales side, and I enjoy meeting the 95% of the people I've been scheduled to work with.
Physically 'building' big events & seeing them come to fruition is very satisfying.
It's fun getting to see how the other half lives working in hotels that I would never be able to afford myself.
If you apply for a job in a hotel, the majority of them will provide free lunch in the employee cafeteria. (It doesn't sound huge, but not paying/making lunch every day pads the budget big time.)
There is definitely room for upward mobility on the Tech Side & Sales Side.

Benefits & PTO after 90 days is very helpful, and the 401k has a (pretty small) match.
PSAV will compensate you up to $300 a year with keeping your wardrobe up to date if you're at a property that requires you to wear a suit.

The Sales Coordinator position is a lot of fun, but can be dreary work as you mainly deal with smaller (less exciting) groups. The position is somewhat of a stepping stone to Sales Manager, which should be your goal if you apply for SC.

    Cons

Entry Level Techs will be low-balled in Salary negotiations. To make good money, you'll need to work hard to gain experience & move up.
As a Full Time Hourly employee, you are not necessarily guaranteed 40 Hours per week. During Chicago-Winter, business slows down almost to a standstill, & if you don't have PTO stashed away, it can be VERY rough on your budget.
When it's busy, hours can be long & at all hours of the day as we work around the client and hotel's booked schedules.

    Advice to Management

Never forget to take care of the Techs, and increase the 401k match.

    Pros

PSAV has an amazing work environment. They focus on mentoring their employees and getting them to the next level. Most companies talk about how they promote from within, but PSAV does it.

    Cons

I can't think of a single "con" of working here.

    Pros

Good directors and open to teaching. Allow part time employees freedom to work and have a good incentive system.

    Cons

Sometimes disorganized. Turnover rates can be hectic, and at certain times can wear people out due to over booking.

    Advice to Management

Manage employee well being, be able to better address and asess when an employee is uncomfortable or mistreated, especially when they come to different properties and express a problem with the management at their home property.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can move up quick with the right attitude, competitive salaries, anything but monotonous, company cares about employee growth and provides a nurturing environment for growth

    Cons

Starting as a tech can be rough in regards to crazy shifts as well as planning for months of little to no work in the off season, however can be remedied by planning in advance and saving money during the peak season.

    Advice to Management

We need a better way to retain employees during the off season months. Often times, folks will seek employment elsewhere during the off months resulting in hiring booms every year that really nets about 20% prime quality employees.
