I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of collaborative opportunities; most people are passionate about the work; decent benefits; live events work can be fun and stimulatin

    Cons

Horrible management; bad training at all levels; very little chance to get promoted; company is not equipped to compete with top shelf live event/production companies and doesn't seem to care; serious lack of talent and resources. The mentality at this company is horrible.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who deserve it; communicate ideas and changes better; spend time training people to do their jobs properly; have a better long-term vision and care about winning large event business; listen to mid-level managers when they tell you about problems instead of brushing it off like you don't care.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Direct deposit, PTO, Paid travel in certain cities

    Cons

Overworked and under paid. Almost always understaffed so the company can save money. Easy to get promoted because people were always leaving. Which meant management was always changing and not trained enough. Zero work life balance when it's busy. When it's not busy, there is zero work.

A ton of racism and sexism. They play favorites so if you kiss but you will be okay.

Definitely unsafe working conditions and gear a lot of times. Someone actually died this year which is horrifying.

If you are thinking of this company, use it as a way to get your foot into the door at other places...

    Advice to Management

Pay your techs better and don't just treat them like labor.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Its 50+ hours a week with the typical hotel AV schedule, so hours are always there. Advancement is certainly possible to those who want more work with their work/ life balance. Good BCBS benefits.

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, high expectations to make profit with low revenue hotels is my experience. No team help on low revenue generating properties. PSAV works smoother at the larger big box properties that have the revenue to have the better equipment and staff on site. It's working at a hotel, and is customer service .

    Advice to Management

Be realistic in your profit goals . Meeting your SHOU is often impossible because of the goals set each year for certain properties.

I worked at PSAV part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with understand the crap this company will put you through so at least you'll make friends. If you can, secure a salary position.

    Cons

Horrible company structure, management varies from property to property but I've only had 1 good experience out of all the ones I've worked at. PAY IS NOT WHAT YOU DESERVE. They will work you so hard and leave you with barely anything to show for it.

    Advice to Management

Actually appreciate your employees and your turnover rate will drop instead of increase.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company with tremendous resources. Structured well with great efficiency.

    Cons

Lots of amazing systems in place when they work but can be overwhelming at times.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to have core values they should be applied to all areas of the company not just where it is convenient. Value people should be at the top of the list. DETs are your overall best investment as they are the face and pulse of the business. Don't promote without the proper training and mentorship as that lowers consistency across the organization. Have a more advanced career path for technicians that don't want to be DETs.

Figure out your internal communication flaws before preaching flawless communication as one of the keys to a successful event.

I have been working at PSAV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My current directors are fantastic. They have actively coached me and don't everything they can to make our property better. Our benefits are pretty good, and our time off/holidays is pretty generous. My pay is what also pretty good.

    Cons

My former directors made my daily life miserable. My starting pay was low. It's all about your leadership.

    Advice to Management

Don't turn a blind eye to bad leadership in your company. Get them out or into a different role where they can be better.
