I worked at PSCH full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pace is mostly slow, the pay is reasonable for this position and location, they are a large secure company with good benefits packages

    Cons

The pace is mostly slow, the pay is low if you're willing to travel to Manhattan or Long Island City

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like employees are tenured just because they've been there for decades. A lot of the older employees can't keep up with the pace or technology required. Also, invest in technology and destroy the tons of paper records.

    Pros

You have the ability to have a very flexible work schedule with this position. Most of the employees are absolutely wonderful to worker with,.

    Cons

Most of the managerial staff is very unprofessional and their expectations from the staff is unrealistic. They can be rude and very demeaning/demoralizing. They show no appreciation for the work that is done. There is very little compensation for hard work and dedication.

    Pros

My purpose of getting into this field was to serve my clients. To help them achieve a higher quality of life; To advocate on their behalf and ensure that they were heard was most important to me. In building relationships with clients, they learned to trust me and that outwayed the low wages paid for the position that mostly carried the Non-Profit organization.

    Cons

After many years of employment with PSCH, rifts were made and a division between all departments were and remain forged. There is minimal communication. No one takes accountability for failures. Overwhelmingly large number of VPs. Upper Management has no involvement or concerns about lower level staff. Trickling effects have occurred prior to my departure where rudeness from Upper is then transferred to Supervisory staff and then to lower level staff. Turnover rate is extremely high on the levels that interact mostly with clients as there is terrible/no oversight from Upper. Almost no opportunities for advancement is some depts.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the staff that have a passion for the population we serve and who also contribute so much to generating the income that you care about. Increase the amount of activities that is provided to the cliente as it seems like slowly things are being taken away from them. Every client has a voice, you just have listen.

I have been working at PSCH full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people of this agency are extremely welcoming, warm, happy and a wonderful group to share the corporate experience with. The company is open to change and personal growth through opportunities internal and external to the enterprise. Most employees are not micro-managed, it truly feels like a family here.

    Cons

Dealing with leftover problems and issues created by former employees, managers and executives has created a struggle in daily life. They continue to pay for these mistakes both financially and in effort, and it does become mentally taxing at times. Compensation is not at industry standards; it is somewhat expected since they are a non-profit.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, don't loose your momentum! You are truly making positive changes that will not only help our bottom line, but will also help the people we serve.
