    Pros

I have been working at PSEG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not a lot of micro managing if you're on the blue collar side. A lot of unsupervised work hours and once you're finished you can pretty much do whatever. Decent starting wage by today's standards

    Cons

No benefits if you're a "temp". Being temp doesn't mean temporary as in you'll be let go after x months, it's just there way of skirting around giving you benefits. For a company that says safety is its number 1 priority, they don't seem to care about all their employees having health insurance.

Probably a good company for your father, not anymore though

    Advice to Management

Stop putting idiots in charge. I've honestly never had a more clueless batch of supervisors in my life

Give employees access to freaking healthcare. You can afford it.

I have been working at PSEG full-time

    Pros

Advancement opportunity is available for anyone who is willing to work for it.
But, be warned that if you become too valuable in your current position you may not be allowed to move up until they are sure they have your replacement.
The pay and benefits are top notch. This is likely because they have to pay a lot to keep people willing to deal with the cons...

    Cons

Corporate is currently painting a very grim picture of the future of nuclear in the northeast.
The relationship between management and the union is strained, at best.
The HR department is very slow during the hiring process, resulting in many qualified candidates slipping away to other opportunities.

    Advice to Management

As the belt is tightened and we are told to do more with less, take the initiative to strip away administrative busy work. Leverage technology to do data aggregation and reporting instead of hiring more analysts.

  4. "Project Manager"

I have been working at PSEG full-time

    Pros

It really depends on your particular role, as a PM whether it is a positive or negative experience.

    Cons

Traditional company values can hold back overall progress

I worked at PSEG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Easy Job
    Nice Co - Workers
    Great insurance
    Great Work life balance

    Cons

Not challenging, very transactional organization (mostly mindless work)
No real strategy involved, strategic plans are based on low bidders
Constant changing requirements by management for simple tasks (example paper backup for everything, requirements for what is required in these backups change with little or no direction)
Extreme micro-managing (metrics to track metrics)cuts time into your day (literally several Excel sheets to track your status every day...a joke)
Company brings back poor performers and put them in different areas
Not a place to learn any sort of analytics, which is a must for all analysts...so be aware (most people don't know how to use Excel or know macros)

    Advice to Management

    Empower employees
Start implementing strategic supply chain strategies
Provide more development opportunities and follow-through with employees
    Remove micro-managing in some areas
Allow analysts to actually do market studies, change orders and administration should not be the focus of an analyst
