I worked at PSEG full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good pay, generous vacation time, flexible work schedules available in some departments. The company has both a decent 401k and a good pension plan.

    Cons

The health benefits could be better for a large company, premiums are high for sub par plans. The company is not forward thinking. If you continue to do what you’ve done that’s not smart business. Management is stuck in their ways and they don’t value the opinions of their employees. When employees don’t feel valued or heard they leave. There are different set of rules and processes for different leaders. This company is hard to get into and when you get there it’s definitely not what you thought it was. There are many employees with long tenure which is good, but because of this fact, this company is better as a stepping stone for a younger workforce.

    Advice to Management

Upper management can’t be stuck in their ways and expect people to want to work there. HR needs to understand employee engagement, and bring the human back into resources. Look into doing an annual employee survey to get a pulse check of what is really happening. Some leaders are inefficient, ineffective, and unprofessional, and it’s their way or the highway. The higher ups need to get their feet on the ground and clean house.
