I worked at PTC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits--wellness time, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) match, medical/dental, occasional stock grants, generous PTO
Challenging work--opportunities to use modern tools and grow in the industry
Smart, friendly, talented, and innovative coworkers--some of the most amazing people I've ever worked with

    Cons

For the last couple years, since the division VP of R&D came on board, the corporate environment has changed. Layoffs happened every 3-6 months, lowering morale and increasing workload. The highest levels of management value flashy but small innovations, rather than people who have been contributing steadily to the company over several years.

    Advice to Management

The company is making a lot of short-sighted decisions. Reward loyalty as well as innovation. Pay attention to the good things happening at satellite offices instead of trying to consolidate locations--this is a tech company and we can get things done virtually. Consider building on what you have, rather than purchasing new companies and laying off legacy employees to fund those efforts.

I worked at PTC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

java developers were always ahead of industry standard and it brought both the pain and fun.

    Cons

people were always chasing new shinny objects in technical innovation which often led to multiple standard without any objectives.. kind of getting lost every time.

Right now everyone is busy trying to get into IoT platform (ThingWorx) with little to no success. I am not sure if they will reach anywhere. very expensive solutions. Not sure if PTC will get anywhere near PLM solutions.

    Advice to Management

What happened to our "Windchill code, windchill code, Java all the way?"
PTC should have sold themselves to IBM or Oracle longtime back when they came knocking on their door. too late now, you've laid-off entire dev team (very experienced and disciplined people and UNDER paid) in blaine. I scored 100K + bonus recently after you laid-off me and was happy making 75 at ptc.

I have been working at PTC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours or good work-life balance
Opportunity to work with very knowledgeable and brilliant technical people; opportunity to learn

    Cons

Layoffs very regularly due to management restructuring - they just aren't able to figure it out.
    No growth opportunities

    Advice to Management

How do you expect to help customers or their employees when you are so brutal and have no empathy for your own employees?

I worked at PTC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are great. There are a lot of good products and projects going on. Moving towards newer technologies, and at the forefront of IoT. Benefits are excellent. Hard to find elsewhere. Great work/life balance.

    Cons

Layoffs to make numbers. Instead of investing in the people to make the products that will sell, they just layoff more people. It really hits morale and it has been really bad the past few years.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people as numbers. People are excited about where the company is going and want to help it get there and it hurts morale all around when sudden layoffs happen and good people are let go, even in the middle of a project, leaving their team without that critical resource to complete what you say is important.

I worked at PTC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Relaxed atmosphere
    - VERY generous PTO policy
    - Interesting work and good people on the ground level

    Cons

    - Company changes direction every few years. Each change brings lots of U.S. layoffs... and then a few weeks later lots of hiring in India
    - A lot of nepotism. You'll see the same last names over and over again

    Advice to Management

Figure out a direction and stick with it. Stop abandoning projects half way through
