I have been working at PTC Therapeutics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits
    Work-life balance
    Opportunities to grow
Nearly everyone IS extremely nice. I have never worked for such a caring and supportive company. It's the PTC culture.

    Cons

Some of the employees can be rude, but very few and is expected at any place of work.

    Advice to Management

    Allow more employee input.

I have been working at PTC Therapeutics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1.Family-like work environment
    2. Very employee friendly culture with flexible hours, vacation, sick and family leave
    3. Competitive compensation as well as bonus; pay raise is generous.
    4. Various projects to take on if one expects to learn and grow in the careers
    5. Perks such as cultural lunches once a month, international potluck, employee picnic and amazing holiday party

    Cons

    1. Favoritism is obvious; it makes sense tha you work hard enough to get promoted once within few years; however to get promoted for twice a year, you need to be close to the management
    2. Unprofessional people could stay because they stay long enough even without effectiveness and production.

    Advice to Management

Value those with talent and efficiency rather than sweet talkers who understand your hobbies and favorite topics.

    Pros

The shopping center in the back of the building is really nice. It provides a good education in hard knocks.

    Cons

PTC posts contract positions. They'll negotiate good salaries. They list 6 months or longer to LURE YOU in but as soon as you finish a project( a month or two) they'll look for a reason to get rid of you. NJ is an "At Will" state meaning an employer can terminate you for any reason and PTC takes full advantage of this law or will lie to accomplish their goals.
It is a Cult. Its not family orientated and the people there are not nice. They will do anything to keep their jobs in a badly run company.

    Advice to Management

Discipline your corrupt, scheming employees. Have a little honor. Utilize better business practices so the employees don't resort to this. The permanent employees deserve PTC and vice versa, maybe there is a perfect order in chaos.

    Pros

    1. I learned a lesson to trust my judgment and run when my gut tells me.
    2. Lots of free food if you want to get fat.

    Cons

Surrounded by some of the rudest people I've ever had to deal with. Bad moral. I constantly heard how "nice" everyone working at PTC is. This phrase was repeated as if it were rehearsed and they were trying to convince you of it. Problems that keep workers from doing their jobs effectively are ignored, and I've witnessed employees who tried to address problems, get reprimanded for it...as if you are not even allowed to talk about it. Meanwhile, a seemingly constant flow of fattening food is made available to you as if it were supposed to make up for everything, and shut you up. I agree with the previous reviewer. It was like a cult. From the moment I walked through the door, there were so many red flags that I knew I would just be passing through, and the sooner the better.

    Advice to Management

None. I'm sure they already know they have many problems...

    Pros

The employees had a lot of relative PTC experience as they all come through their "PTC University".

    Cons

The employees have no real world experience outside of PTC and so have no real view on how to adjust to various situations. Employees get promoted within and not for talent but longevity. It reminds me of a cult..

    Advice to Management

You higher people based on their industry expertise but you don't listen to them..be prepared to hear the hard facts and what it will take to change be prepared to change!

    Pros

NONE ... There really iisn't anything that is that great to mentilon and there really aren't any company perks.

    Cons

EXTREMELY LONG HOURS ! Employees are overworked and management thinks nothing of getting rid of employees and makes up reasons to get rid of people.

    Advice to Management

    EVER THINK OF WORK/LIFE BALANCE???

I have been working at PTC Therapeutics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Pros:
    Flexible with hours.

    Good amount of vacation.

Knowledgeable scientists in the area of RNA.

    Cons

    Cons:
The upper management seems to continue to push PTC-124 through clinical trials. Although it has failed multiple times, it appears management is too emotionally involved to know when to invest resources in something something more promising. This may eventually cause some problems with the survivability of the company.

The level of nepotism in this company is more than I have experienced in any other work experience.

We went multiple years without a pay increase.
