HR is awful

Pros

They do make an effort to place you in a good fit with the on site company.

Cons

If you care about work/life balance, look somewhere else. The difficulty of negotiating maternity leave was a headache. They only want you to be gone for the bare minimum of medical needs and do not encourage longer leave for bonding purposes, which FMLA allows for IF the employer agrees. I, and others at my site, have had many problems with PTFS living up to verbal promises. They do not keep up a relationship with you, so why would they fight for you as long as they have a body in the position? I have stayed because my on site company has been great.

We are sorry to learn that your tenure here resulted in your poor opinion of the company . Maternity leave should not and is not a term for negotiation, as it is the law that eligible employees receive the time off. We also work with physicians and HR vendors to make sure that employees are provided with all benefits necessary to have a worry free environment for welcoming their new addition. For requests that go beyond the standard requirement, we endeavor to accommodate as best as we can while keeping our obligations to our customers and adhering to our contract obligations. We celebrate and recognize employee tenure and would not do anything to jeopardize it. Our employee relationships are important as is evidenced by employees, even peers, staying on the same project for multiple cycles. We are indeed sorry that your specific circumstances and requests went beyond what we could reasonably accommodate. We wish you and yours the very best.

Low morale, shaky future

Pros

No pros make this company stand out from any other employer. You get paid, you get benefits, that's it. The only people with a positive experience are developers, who are usually young men happy to get their foot in the door, and some of the best paid employees.

Cons

Company caters to niche market with lots of competition and limited demand. Very small customer base that's unlikely to grow. Company gets new business by chronically underbiding. Pay is well below market rate for comparable jobs requiring similar experience and credentials, so company is unable to attract quality employees. Pay increases are negligible and likely to freeze short-term. Employees ultimately pay for the chronic underbiding. There's a strong reliance on hiring immigrants willing to work for sub-market pay, which reeks of exploitation. Grossly underperforming employees are never held accountable or counseled. There are employees who do very little actual work, yet retain their jobs for years. Employees who actually care pick up the slack with no compensation or recognition. Open positions stay unfilled, so current employees face unrealistic demands to meet deliverables. Overall, morale is very low. People stay only because they are afraid to, or don't know how to, explore other opportunities. Company pursues contracts it doesn't have the experience or personnel to support, has poor understanding of the services it's supposed to provide and the industry it serves. Company floundering with current contracts, and in weak financial position. Long-term prospects are not good. No room for career growth. Most positions are task-specific with no opportunities to learn new skills. HR is extremely dismissive of employees who work offsite (including in the same building but on a different floor) and does not regard them as "real" employees of the company. HR doesn't seem to understand the local labor market, or the skills needed for specific positions. Supervisors are expected to find people to fill open positions with little help from HR.

Pros

Direct managers were great. Two thumbs up. Very responsive and felt like they looked out for you.

Cons

PTO is about average at 3 weeks. I was just a month away from completing a year and they did not pay out my PTO which I never used for the year. Apparently they have a policy where they do not pay PTO if you leave within a year. Must have been hidden in the fine print. Vesting takes 3 years which is long for any contractor. Pay is low for anyone with TS SCI.
