Very hard-working employees, great benefits, lots of opportunities for growth within the company.

No work-life balance and poor leadership. The Affordability measures and elimination of jobs impacted employees who were left with jobs, creating a low moral and poor work environment.

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric (More than a year)

    Pros

There is a clear commitment to safety and reliability at PG&E at all levels. This is reflected in how the people respond to emergencies as well as the focus on improving the quality of the grid. There is recognition that digitization is inevitable and enabling the Smart Grid is key to success.

    Cons

Leadership changes over the last year have created swirl, but that is rapidly changing. Sometimes too consensus driven decision making.

    Advice to Management

There are a large number of employees eligible for retirement over the next several years.Invest in strong, quality knowledge transfer.

I worked at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting work and opportunities to expand ones expertise.

    Cons

Middle Management (Director/Senior Director) do not share information openly. Seems political. Senior manager level with 20+ years of service seem to act very resistant to outside hires.

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

What I like the most working for PG&E are their benefit programs, pension plans, tuition reimbursement program, and as well provide a child center (using lottery system) for the employees. Most of the employees are very family oriented and friendly, they don't hesitate to tranfer knowledge. They have 24/7 IT support. They concern with your healty and safety at work.

    Cons

They needs do more work in their Talent Connect. Seems like the process is very slow.
