I worked at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and some good people.

    Cons

It was a great company to work for until they decided to outsource and get rid of some really good people. Need to focus more on work life balance for their employees.

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good and great peers. Most employees are dedicated to doing their best to see the company succeed.

    Cons

Historically hierarchical culture makes it hard for employees to speak up and bring about positive changes. Leaders are too busy to engage with employees and listen/give feedback.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, ask for and give feedback.

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Received lots of opportunities for varied job responsibilities if you either look or ask. Work/life balance is something you need to advocate for.

    Cons

Seems to be lots of politics - unfortunately, some collegues who have been let go due to recent layoffs carry that dead luggage with them to other companies.

Too many re-orgs in the company as well as leadership changes creates unnecessary distractions. Employees who have survived this Company for more than 10 years should be VERY DESIRABLE to other companies because of their ability to adapt ALOT effectively .

    Advice to Management

PG&E use to have the following slogan "A Great Place to Work"
Business decisions, such as restructuring or downsizing are just that, we get it (I believe most do), but treat your employees, especially longer-term ones who have demonstrated loyalty to the Company, and treat them with more respect.
