Great company with a great knowledgeable staff
Outage work can really impact life while working at a nuclear facility.

PG&E pampers their interns! Everyone I worked with was very welcoming and treated me with respect. I was trusted to work on projects independently and had numerous opportunities to shadow different professionals and learn about various projects. It is very obvious PG&E values their employees and wants to hang onto them, even if you're changing careers. They cover travel costs and pay for your hours spent travelling, overall a very accommodating employer and I would highly recommend working here to anyone.
Not much to say here.
I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (More than 10 years)
Good steady work that is almost immune to market volatility. Good people with lots of diversity. For me it allows me to stay in CA with my family.
Work can be boring and monotonous. Lots of red tape and processes to follow so productivity is low.
Advice to Management
Find a way to reduce processes and unnecessary work.

PG&E values their employees and has a positive Nuclear Safety Culture. Many people have long term careers working with PG&E. Pay is good.
Outage work and on call assignments can impact family life.

Higher than normal salary for the area, good friendships have come out working here, ability to learn a great deal outside of your area of interest.
Very very poor work-life balance efforts on this company's behalf. Mothers and new fathers should steer clear of working here. Employees are expected to manage work loads that should be covered by several people. Inconsistent Management styles. Some are very approachable and some are very brutal. There's a big population of employees eligible for retirement and hardly anyone replacing them.
Advice to Management
Stop with the ever-constant changing initiatives. Hire more people! Please stop over working your employees to save a few pennies! And please follow through with work life balance for families. You are loosing quality people by demanding too much.
