I have been working at Pacific Retirement Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family-like atmosphere at the main office with many community outreach events and a lot of opportunities to give in the community. Most employees are service oriented at heart and care about what we are trying to accomplish as an organization. Fun atmosphere, incredible benefits all around. Have really enjoyed working with this group.

    Cons

There is always a lot of work to do and we would benefit from better interdepartmental processes to keep everyone in touch with things going on. Sometimes we are stalled by communication issues because everyone is so busy. Hiring new people takes a long time and getting promoted is usually based on how long you’ve been there.

    Advice to Management

Some of the departments are struggling but there’s no direct contact with leadership. Leaders would be wise to talk with lower level people to make sure opportunities and great talent aren’t being missed.

I have been working at Pacific Retirement Services part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Rogue Valley Manor (Medford OR location) allows access to their pool, gym, and sauna.

The benefits are okay, though I work part time and thus don't qualify for them

    Cons

Management is a joke. Honestly this is the biggest con, because there's a lot of brown nosing, drama, grief, and frustration. It's sad because this company could really excel with residents and staff if PRS actually did something with their director and management.

Drama is abundant. Majority of the staff is female, between 16-18. Most of them in high school. It's even worse when they don't actually need the job and thus don't put much effort into it.

Meal plan benefit is only partially true. They advertise that there's a cafe open 24/7 to the staff. This isn't true. The main employee break room cafe is open Mon-Fri. It's open at various times of the day. On Saturday and Sunday you need to go into the kitchen at exactly 7:00 to grab left over food. Staff has been fired because of eating quesadillas from the grille and the plaza isn't really a meal option.

Pay starts out at $9.50 and depending on how much you brown nose you can get raises from there. Favoritism is definitely a huge thing here. We've had staff employed for years who are more qualified at the job receive their promotions long after new hires. We've also had staff demoted for no given reason. It's all kinda weird and upsetting.

    Advice to Management

If you want business, happy residents, and a profitable company. Pay attention to how things are run around here. A vast majority of the residents feel bad for staff because of what they see and hear. Happy staff = happy customers.

    Pros

It is an easy gig for an I.T. person who just needs a job right now until a real opportunity comes along. If your job is just a paycheck and your real focus is you personal life it's ideal.

    Cons

Slow environment. sometimes it's mind numbing. Company is small and very flat. The demands are so low that nobody is going to leave such a cushy existence so upward mobility is unlikely in the I.T. dept. No real career path but to be fair, this isn't a technology company so they are probably providing all that makes sense.
