I worked at Pacific Sun full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of design freedom, and many other special projects aside from the weekly edition.

    Cons

New management completely out of touch with the product, the county and all of the staff.

    Advice to Management

    Get new management. Start over.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Really great people. Everyone supportive of everyone else in this small media company. No office politics...everyone focused on the work itself. Like a family.

    Cons

Low salary when there is a salary. Sales reps work on commission only. No benefits. Expenses not reimbursed. The paper has lost its way editorially. Slowly dying paper.

    Advice to Management

Find an investor to put money into the business rather than continually cutting back. Find a strong publisher who understands the business and who forms relationships in the community.
