I have been working at Pacific Sunwear full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment and product that is constantly growing with the trends and evolving. You learn how to be self-sufficient and gain a lot of management/ operational/ and driving for results experience.

    Cons

Expected to act as positions consistently and not get paid more for it, low payroll causing you to be alone on the sales floor for max hours.

    Advice to Management

It is what you make it! Don't go into management with the mindset that people don't have to like you, because it definitely helps having peers and authorities there to back you up.

I have been working at Pacific Sunwear full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great discount on a lot of great well-known brands.

    Cons

There seems to be somewhat of a disconnect with the new structure of the company between District Managers, Regionals and Store Managers. There is little to NO work/life balance; your basically TOLD exactly what schedule to work during Holidays and expected to work EVERY Saturday. Floorsets are very time consuming and wasteful of payroll. The company is coming out of bankruptcy, and still seems to have allocation issues when ordering too much product, and then watch it sit and not sell, eventually to mark it down to "buy one get one free". District Managers are frequently in stores, but are VERY "hands-off" and do more of telling you what problems they see, but not offering much help with finding solutions. Payroll is completely unmanageable and unacceptable with the company's expectations; many times it is one part coverage and/or not enough when it is busy and customers are messy, yet not enough hours to call more associates in.

    Advice to Management

Please do something about payroll, with the expectations, task load and vision of the company, we are consistently made to feel like we are only setup for failure. Invest in your employees and make sure they feel valued. Low-ball wages and cutting costs/hours with training will only ultimately hurt the company as a whole and increase the turnover rate. Buy less product, make items actually seem "EXCLUSIVE" to the customer and there would be less product to markdown.
