fun sometimes and hair pulling others

    Pros

The people you work with will be some of the best you will ever meet and the health benefits are really good. They also run a lot of contests to earn extra prizes and/or money.

    Cons

Recognition does not always come readily. More times than not the expectations are unrealistic and unreachable for management to complete given the information provided along with payroll given. Communication throughout the company needs to be better and clearer.

    Sales Associate at PACSUN

    Pros

    - The Discount they give o associates is awesome!!! - You are given the ability to track your sales and see the difference you are making in the store - The other sales associates (at least the ones that I encountered) were all very nice genuine people - The company is forever changing and evolving

    Cons

My problem with this company was not the company itself but the management team. I was one of the top sales people at my store who rarely ever missed reaching their sales goal and worked countless hours to help make our store the best it could possibly be as a sales associate. What I got in return was disrespect and put down's the management of the store if I were to not be able to reach my sales goal, and constant criticism even when I was doing my job. My store manager was so rude and disrespectful that every assistant manager since she has become store manager at her store has quit the company.

    Fun experience, retail hours

    Pros

Working at Pacsun was a lot of fun. I was able to work with people my age (I was 22-24 yrs old) and manage a team of diverse individuals. I met some interesting people and had a lot of interesting conversations working in retail.

    Cons

The hours are rough! As to be expected from a retail job! There is no consistency in the schedule. There was always a shortage of employees at my location, which meant a a lot of overtime. Loss prevention was my store's biggest issue and was a stressful issue to manage.

    Worst Job in retail history

Aug 26, 2012 - Store Manager in San Francisco, CA

    Pros

    discounts; 30% off all year

    Cons

I am reposting and added what someone else wrote bc they were dead on: No Job Security No life outside No solid leadership No feedback on performance No recognition No coaching and developing Cult like tendencies- rather you speak the 'language' then run a successful business Daily you are asked to do the impossible The people at the corporate office expect you to make gold out of coal Fake Fake Fake, everybody who stays here is fake The people who work here now are from Abercrombie and Hollister This company does not appreciate its managers or brand reps There is no training. For managers you get one week of learning to open and close the store and then you are thrown to the wolves. Not one single training session EVER again. The leaders with any skill or leadership ability or any knowledge/experience on how REAL successful business are run get pushed out of the business. This company has had double digit declines in same store sales since 2009. That is a huge decrease in sales over a 3 year time frame. Store managers, have you seen your P&L lately? They are in panic mode to fix the company and if that is at the expense of the people who work for them in terms of pay, quality of life, training, advancement, benefits, stress or whatever typically makes a company a great company to work for...they are more than willing to do so. Unrealistic workload with no additional hours allocated. Store Ops doesn't have their priorites together; email at 5pm stating that a full men floor set needs to be completed by opening next morning. RTV assignment given and then 8 hours later asked to put the RTV back in the system. Window update, no window update, window update, no window update..MAKE UP YOUR MIND! They have been known as having the 'worst business model in specialty retail.' If you are; attractive not very experienced have no morals in regards to people don't mind gossip and your leadership being unprofessional and full of spite, then this is the perfect job for you. If you are: A principle based leader, who acts with ethics and integrity A manager who fosters the development of your team. Can make your own assessments of your people based on skills and willingness to learn, without carrying out the motives of your leaders who do not know your people (ability to asses talent). Appreciate recognition for yourself and your team (motivating others). Enjoy having a quality of life Enjoy having a rewarding job without unnecessary steps that do not add value. Want to work somewhere where your honest opinion matters (managerial courage). Do not look like you work at Abercrombie or Hollister). Want to work for leaders who value your hard work, dedication, and drive to succeed. Enjoy working for a leader who is experienced with developing people and has a great deal of business acumen. Just plain old want to work for a company that is respectful to it's people and who has a culture you can be proud of, then you don't want to work here.

    Pros

You can wear what you want mostly, the coworkers were cool and the management was supportive and cool.

    Cons

They made you harrass every customer who walked in and give them a huge shpeal on our current sales. They really wanted us to sell jeans and lie to people about clothes looking good. It was all about sales and I didn't get commission, just minimum wage.

    Cons

As an associate you only work part-time and they dont give out raises as often, unless you are becoming an assistant manager or store manager.
